Summer 2013

UK Anime have put up an article with a list of the upcoming Summer anime. So I was wondering, what do you plan on watching? For me:

My "Summer Anime To Watch" List:
Dangan Ronpa
Silver Spoon
High School DxD New
The World God Only Knows - Season 3: Goddess Arc

To try out:
Dog & Scissors (Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou)
Ecstatic Family (Uchouten Kazoku
Hyperdimension Neptunia
Watamote!

Re: Summer 2013

I feel I should note that the AUKN preview is coming too but I have been a bad person and not posted it yet ;_;

My list is likely to be quite different from Josh's when I put it together. I don't like to make one in advance though as it only ends in tears when all the good stuff goes to Funimation.

Re: Summer 2013

At the moment, just TWGOK 3, Silver Spoon and Watamote for me. Also continuing with Attack on Titan and Majestic Prince. I'll sample some of the others based on the impressions I see online.

Re: Summer 2013

Though I know doubt will try most of them -even though I know I won't carry on a lot of them them- the ones I defiantly will watch though that is new are

Blood Lad
Brother Conflict
Free! <3
Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun 2
Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist

...I think there might be a bit of a patter there XD

Wait, there's a third series of The World God Only Knows? I remember reading an ANN thread where know-alls were proclaiming the anime deader than dead following poor sales in Japan. I suppose I should get cracking with S1...

Also interested in Kimi no Iru Machi, the adaptation of a long-running manga by the author of Suzuka, and the new Monogatari series of course. EDIT: Watamote! sounds potentially hilarious. One to watch.

This is the first I've heard about the new Genshiken series, and I can't find any news reports pertaining to it on ANN. Read the first volume of the manga and thought it was decent, and with IG on animation duties it should look better than the terribly animated first two series. Onto the list it goes.

There are quite a few series which have sold unspectacularly and then kept ploughing on. I thought TWGOK was fabulous!

The new Genshiken has left me with rather more mixed thoughts. I should be enjoying it, but the manga has been underwhelming. Will it be better with voices and motion? Probably not :/

(Trying not to get excited about anything until Crunchyroll does its lineup is hard T_T)

I'm not totally sold on new Genshiken (aka Genshiken: The Fujoshi Years) but I think the characters are, overall, a more entertaining/wackier bunch than the first lot. And, yes, hoping that Crunchyroll get everything I'm interested in and that Funimation and AoD keep their hands off.

I don't mind the fujoshi stuff in Genshiken Nidaime, but the gradual shift away from observational blokey anime discussions and towards teen-style drama full of cosplay and recycled gags hasn't exactly endeared it to me. Maybe I'm just bitter about how accurately it parallels the trends in anime conventions over here >_>

I'll probably try out:

* Blood Lad (been reading the manga)
* Danganronpa
* Free!
* Golden Mosaic
* Hyperdimension Neptunia
* Servant x Service

Thought you were a big KyoAni fan, Josh, not watching Free!?
I'm not in the target audience for Free!. I do know a fair few who will be watching it though xD.

I've been reading it, I can't remember the beginning that well but the manga should of ended ages ago, I feel that the mangaka just continues to add chapters full of misunderstandings and ecchi moments that rarely do anything to develop the characters and the mangaka continues to bring back female characters that I can't even remember. I think I liked the beginning of it but I can't see myself watching the anime all the way through.

My seasonal picks will appear on the site soon :)

I thought that might be the case with the manga because few series can maintain their quality over 23+ volumes, but the anime is only 12 episodes. I'm curious to see how Gonzo will handle the ending.

Re: Summer 2013

It barely matters how good some of the less-known (at least to me) quantities turn out, WataMote! and monogatari should ensure this season's positive impact on their own.

Everyone is the target audience for this show, I assume this is why it has been used as the front page picture for the site's season preview article.

Looks like i'm be watching at the moment:

Blood Lad
Danganronpa: The Animation
Free!
Gatchaman Crowds
High School DxD New
Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi
