i don't personally wanna watch Anime movies because they drag on and they take forever to finish and they take majority of the time slot for Anime.
How many anime movies have you seen?
well movies is not good start when introducing Anime to viewers episodes are better because content and story are portrayed straight away. Movies take a while because of length and also it's not a good start

it's quiet funny when you mention Anime to people they straight away think that it's some sort of children's animation or something childlike to watch and they laugh at you i don't know if this occurs outside U.K but i certainly witnessed it a lot. they think i'm talking about 'tom and jerry' or when they have some clue 'pokemon' 'yu-gi-oh'

A 24/7 Anime channel will definately not happen.

There's only 2 ways anime will be on UK TV anytime soon..
1) AXN Launches and brings an anime BLOCK with it. This will probably be post-midnight anyway =/
2) Adult Swim launches and brings Bleach and FMA etc.

Also, don't be knocking on the Pogeymonz and YGO's, dude. I strongly recommend reading the mangas of both. Has people dieing and whatnot.

And American animation aswell. Seriously, watch CN after 11pm. Sure there's no AS, but we still got some funny stuff right thar :p

PS. Huge Cowboy Bebop Spoiler Spike Dies :D

Has CN ever shown something like Total Drama Island over in the UK?...seriously when it comes to some of the sort of inbetween shows (as in shows not for kids but not exactly adult as well) we rarely ever get them

I do think AXN will air some sort of anime and comedy, they do own the international rights to Blood+ and Boondocks, two adult swim US shows.

I'd argue that one of the best ways to introduce people to anime is through anime movies, for example Spirited Away and other Ghibli movies, as those are well made movies regardless of being animated. Shows like Bleach are pretty typical "boy's cartoons" in the eyes of most. Also, shows like that are long stories set in arcs that can be hard to get into if not done so from the beginning, whereas anyone can sit and watch a film and (unless it's something with a crazy plot i.e. Paprika) understand what is happening.

Also, of the two attempts at showing anime in the UK recently, the weekend block (Anime Network) was more successful than the nightly channel (Anime Central) as AC ran through it's shows far too quickly and couldn't afford the licenses for new shows.

Total Drama Island Is/Was on Disney XD since it's a Teletoon show (Canadian channel)
I'm hoping we atleast get Regular Show. If they bleep or cut bits out I'll raise hell

I'm personally hoping AXN is a kind of a replacement to Bravo. Mainly specialising in cult action shows, anime and some comedy for good measure :p

Disney XD!?!...didn't think they'd show something like TDI. And I've never even heard of Regular Show...I must confess I've lost track of all the popular (with the adult crowd) animated shows for a while now

No, seriously, how many have you seen? Most people consider movies the best way to introduce people to anime.

Honestly, this isn't funny. I know it's an "internet meme" or whatever, and I know it's about as well-hidden a spoiler as the key twist to The Sixth Sense at this point, but there is always one person out there who doesn't know, and who doesn't want to know.

Dude, the guy walks in with a Naruto avatar saying most anime movies suck. Of course he doesn't know yet and that's the whole reason I did it.

Not saying it wasn't harsh. It was and I was just trolling :(

I massively suspect that he does know, tbh, because someone has probably done roughly the same thing before. :p But yes, I'm glad you agree that it's not really a good idea.

Please no more trolling; even if you think a particular person deserved it, anyone can read this forum and I know that when I personally google something and see a spoiler in the innocuous preview text, I rage.

So what if i do and yeh most anime movies do suck that's my opinion and total drama island did you used to come disney XD but i think they stopped putting it on now for some reason. why will they have an Anime block just for the U.K you don't see any other AXN channels in other countries with an Anime block. it's very unlikely for U.K to have one, firstly Anime isn't very popular and because of failures of CNX and Anime Central. not much has changed since 2008 in terms of Anime demand in the U.K

Bravo had Adult swim in the U.K and that was a failure but they didn't have Anime programmes i think. CN will not have it and discussions are being made about it in why Adult swim is not in the U.K because they know that the content that Adult swim have will not be successful in the U.K and it's waste of money. U.K are quiet strict in terms of what to put on and that sort of content should not be on a children's channel that's why you see channels such as playboy and television X closing down and reducing because it's not appropriate to show and now i think it's completeley removed

What anime films you seen? Because, your an idiot. Most of everything sucks, you just got to find the good stuff.

The "it's my opinion" defence annoys me to no end. My brother uses it.

Can we just ignore the topic about Anime movies that's not the point and they will be people who won't like Anime so keep dreaming about your perfect world. yeh i'm an idiot of not liking Anime movies when there is people who don't have a clue about Anime and others who think they are some sort of children's programmes and of course you'll find some Anime haters and all i said is I don't like Anime movies for god sake 'beam me up Scotty'.

This might be getting off-topic, but what does the content that is allowed to be shown on children's shows have to do with those channels closing down? Surely those are 2 unrelated facts.

Also, as I'm sure I pointed out earlier, not all anime showings in UK have failed. The Anime Network block was pretty successful, but closed due to ADV's main division (licensing and distro in the US) failing.

Edit: Took out the question as to your comment on anime movies, considering you don't want to defend your opinion.

fool i'm saying CN will not have Adult swim for that reason so if they did have Adult swim it will just take a matter of days before they shut it down. they might be the same AXN with an Anime block because this content is gonna be new to people in terms of Anime and it will take matters of days before they remove it because of some other reason

No need for the attacks fella. Indeed, UK broadcasting won't allow for a channel in the Children's section to show adult shows these days, but there are ways around that, such as using the same signal but assigning it to another channel number. That is what Anime Central did after-all.
