Erm, wow Durial... Cant say I see many like this...
However, I do agree with the statement - Every little kid should have one of those for such occasions:
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/i7gIpuIVE3k?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/i7gIpuIVE3k?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Ayase, your wallpaper appears to be very relevant to my interests.

A print of that painting is on the wall of my old school's library, and whenever I was in there doing work, I'd have the little 'booth'-table-thing below that painting.

You wouldn't mind divulging information on the artist and title of said painting, would you?

Indeed I would. It's Automat by Edward Hopper. Half of his paintings are brilliant (his most famous work being the much-parodied Nighthawks, with the last few people sat in a bar at night) but some (especially his attempts at a kind of de-sexualised nudity) are a bit crap.

There's sense of eerie emptiness, stillness and loneliness* about his paintings which I find captivating. To me, most of his pictures of people are representative of those moments in time you are totally alone in your own thought. I do really like Automat, if you ever find an official print or poster of it please let me know. It seems to be his one painting which isn't easy to obtain a reproduction of.

*Depressing Family Ness, anyone?

It is a really nice picture (and a search of the artist's other work brings some very nice results). My school was usually pretty good with putting up tasteful paitings along with the obligatory student artwork. They had several rather famous/iconic pieces of art, of which I was aware, as well as a few (such as this) which I'd love to find out more about.

A quick search of my favourite poster/print outlet lacks any Automat-related results. Though I'll keep an eye out in future for sure.

I use rainmeter on my desktops, I'm running a fairly simple one at the moment-
but I thought I'd share it here since it's anime related.
Each of the little dango's are shortcuts-
I only really need those programs so I don't use the taskbar much so it's hidden.

I want to do more anime desktops but its often hard to find backgrounds that fit what I want.

I'm on windows (7)
and I'm running rainmeter on my desktop, so each of them are Enigma Launch button variations.

Heres the .ini for my spotify dango if your interested:

A non-anime one now:

I've been meaning to make this one for a while, but it turned out quite different from what I had in my mind. Caused partly by the London Underground map being so much more crowded than I remember it being! Anyway the lines don't really have a particular theme but its something I wanted to do. The font I used was the free "London Tube" not the official "Johnston". This piece was of course inspired in no small part by Simon Patterson's work "The Great Bear" http://maeveconwayfried.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/patterson_great_bear851.jpg

I made each shortcut myself and the system monitors are an adaptation of "simplesentances", i haven't used all the stops by any means though it would be easy to add more. But I'd rather keep a "cleaner" look.
