Simulwatch - serial experiments lain

I've watched two episodes today. I should be up to date by Sunday at the latest. Despite the break between episodes I still found myself emotionally connected to Lain that I wanted to hug her at points. I feel so bad for her. Plus that Grey peeking in at her was bloody creepy.

Okay, so nobody else apart from animefreak has finished this?

I have to say that I think it's one of the best TV anime I have watched. I loved the anime when it was like a psychological horror film and the existential currents running through it were fascinating. Direction, voice acting, art design and sound design were flawless and created the right moods. The ending was perfect. Lain as a character was perfect. The fact I waxed lyrical about it during the first few episodes should give you an impression of what I felt about it. The fact I was comparing it to the works of Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Sion Sono is high praise. I'm tempted to place it high in terms of my all-time favourite anime but I need to think about it...

This is definitely getting a blog post! I'll have to dig out the soundtrack I bought years ago.

i couldn't fully understand it but its a ok series defiantly for the collection

This is a series that is possibly better the second time you watch it when you have some idea what's going on rather than the WTF experience of the initial watching.

My no1 series as I say :)

second time half understands it

I didn't quite understand some of the science but I think it's not important so long as you can grasp the existential developments Lain unergoes. Anyway, one of the characters dismisses trying to find out how everything connects. Do humans really care where the Wired comes from?
