Ripping audio from youtube

Anyone know how to rip the audio from youtube videos?

There's a few live versions of songs I want the mp3 of and when I use vixy.net I get told it's an unregistered extension so can't open the file.

Anyone able to shed light on the matter?

If you just want the mp3; link removed
If you want the video (flv files) try using DownloadHelper in firefox.

Just the mp3 yeah. Is the software clean?

//Edit// Works perfect thanks :)

were i then go from here is use an old instance of VLC to transcode an encapsulate the track, by setting the audio codec to a floating integer and saving it as a .wav file, place that in audacity with the proper dll file and Bamn ready to use .mp3 of Yui Horie for my mobile phone

a long way round but works, i did have software that done what you said but it screwed up for me

That damn thing Iisan sent a link to is riddled with virus' =/

I'm still picking up more Trojans and am not convinced i've found them all yet =/

Anyone got ideas on how I can clean my PC up?

spyware terminator with integrated clamwin, doubles up as a firewall as well with HIPS, though that can be a tad annoying specially if you have a program with multiple processes like adobe photoshop

Sensible browsing + downloading = No virus'.

It's not like the PC will be impossible to clean up. I just trusted a link cause someone else here said that they used it and it was fine, as a result my System32 files have been hit with a trojan. I'll just have to clean it up soon.

It's a good rule, but far from true. Even trusted sites can be compromised and there are viruses that exploit security holes on the OS itself. But anyway, the best computer is the one that suits your needs. Regardless of what it is.

Tbh it's mostly true. I've just been unlucky here. Thankfully though i've partioned my hard drive so all my important data (Bar schoolwork, lol) is on a seperate petition, therefore the virus cant travel onto it. I only have to reformat my Local C Drive which has like, 50 gig worth of stuff?

It's not a process I want to do, but still, at least I haven't thrown money at a machine that can't play my PC games ;)

here's the thing, It actually can play your PC games, I just that I don't want windows in it. Things don't work as I want / think they should work on it.

My PC at work runs into issues every once in a while and during the same time period, I have never experienced any issue with my Mac laptop.

Another little thing, my desktop at work has 4GB RAM installed, but windows onkly recognize and handles 3G.

So you'd need to put windows on a Mac, which basically means you've gotta modify your mac to make up for its lack of compatibility.
Why not just get the real thing?

Also, my windows machine costs alot less than your mac.

Also I do belive that 64bit can recognise more than 3G of ram (I think anyway)

No mods, just install windows in it. But once again, only if I cared which is not the case. I don't do PC gaming since I quit playing Diablo II a long time ago, I dare say sometime in 2002. I had dual boot machine with linux and win back then. After I quit playing, I scrapped windows altogether and a bit later, I've moved to Macs.

I don't care for Mac's initial cost considering the drastic reduction on maintenance it requires. I'd say the TCO for macs are much better in the end.

And WRT to memory, this issue is sorted on Vista, but then again, I don't think my company wants to upgrade so soon, so in the end, I have a 4GB RAM machine that can only address 3GB.

Installing windows to it is just a waste. Why buy the overpriced machine to install windows to it instead?

As for cost on maintenance, i've not had to pay for any maintenance on my PC. It depends on the user. Changes person to person. Macs will only ever be a machine for graphics.

I sense neither of us will back down here though. Out of interest, could you tell me more about Linux? Im thinking of dual booting with Linux myself.
