Paprika foreshadows Kon's new movie the Dream Machine

Having only seen the teaser image on MAL obviously there's not much to go on about The Dream Machine, but I'm watching Paprika and in the scene where Chiba's investigating Himuro's apartment and there's the crayon scrawled drawings, I noticed that two of the robots seem to be drawn there. The big blue one with the meter on his chest and the skinny orange/yellow one with his hands on his hips and one glance could tell you that the female robot bears more than a passing resemblance to Paprika, though there is also a red girl in the scrawls too.

I found it to be pretty incredible how much Kon hides away n his films. I wonder if the designs were based on these scrawls, if they were intentional easter eggs or if it's pure coincidence. I don't think it's just coincidence though. While they're not exact matches, the build of the blue robot and meter on his chest are unmistakeable. When I've finished I'll pop it in my PC and upload a screenshot.

Cheers =3 Took bloody ages to get it the right size XD I was using makeagif.com since i fail at photoshop, so I had to upload the images each time. Ah well it's done now =3

Let's hope we see this before the Wolfgang Petersen-helmed live-action Paprika comes around.
Whaaaaaa

Don't read on unless you want a heart-attack...

"The original one -- the anime that I saw -- my people here they came to me and said had a look at this," he explained. "And I saw it and bingo, I thought this is fantastic. This is a great piece. That will be a very very interesting movie."

Though the screenplay hasn't been written yet, Petersen believes his new psychological sci-fi film has enough potential that's he's willing to compare to one of the biggest action films of all time.

"We open it up a little bit more so it’s more accessible for a wide audience, but it comes a little bit sort of "Matrix" feel," he said. "Not like Matrix but sort of the size of it all, the scope of it all. So that it becomes more of a film for a mainstream audience."

If I ever manage to write anything publishable, I'll make sure a) never to sell movie rights and b) put in my will NEVER to sell the movie rights.

To Holywood at least :p

Didn't Kon say he wanted to animate paprika because he would be able to accomplish what wasn't possible in a live action film.

We can only hope it turns out better than that live-action Perfect Blue that was apparently absolutely dire, missing the point of the original entirely.

Wha...? I need to see this. Even it's as bad as you say. Does it have a different title?

Frankly I think live-actionising Kon's films would be a waste. They're as good as they're going to get, the animation allows for a more fluid imaginative world to be created. I generally don't agree with making live action versions of anime/ cartoons because I don't think any have improved upon the source. Books and manga and comics I can understand shooting live, but not anime =S (Though I still dig transformers live-action if only for the sfx porn)
