Discotek Media have acquired the rights to Lupin the Third Part 2!

UPDATE: Richard Epcar (ADR Director for the English dub) has some news to reveal soon with this announcement. Perhaps the rest of the episodes could get dubbed? Who knows.

Richard Epcar I'll have some news about this soon!

Lupin the Third Part 2 (or Series 2 as Discotek is calling it) contains four seasons totalling 155 episodes. Seasons 1 & 2 were fully dubbed by Pioneer & Geneon Entertainment while Season 3 was partially dubbed by the same folks (Episodes 52-80 only). Episodes 81-155* never made it to English territories until Crunchyroll picked up the rest of the series for legal streaming.

*Two of the episodes (144 and 155) on the other hand were dubbed by Streamline Pictures years before Pioneer & Geneon picked up the rights to the series. This is due to the fact that these episodes were directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Streamline released these episodes on VHS as 'Lupin III's Greatest Capers'.

New update from Discotek:
The plan is to release four DVD sets with the first one starting in 2016. We will include any English dubs that already exist and also the Japanese language with English subtitles. Episodes 80-155 will have improved English subtitles and episodes 145 and 155 will also have the Streamline English dub. All 155 episodes will be released when finished.

HAH! TIMING! Guess who just posted a discussion piece about that very subject over on hs Youtube channel?

Oh well - good news about Media Blasters' BD pressing. Let's hope nothing changes on that front.

Good news, Ladies vs Butlers' Blu-ray release is standard authoring and not BD-R.

I just got my copy of the Ladies vs Butlers BD, and it's regular pressed BD discs, not BD-Rs.

That's definitely a relief, not sure when my copy will ship from UP1 though.

This does raise the question of why the hell is it so cheap? I mean it's super cheap, and they did a dub, even if it's not a quality dub that still cost money, how can they press a real BD and sell it so cheap. (Unless they expect it to sell truck loads given the fanservice angle?)

I'd rather have seen any of the other, harder to get, series that Miyazaki/Takahata were involved with but Lupin the Third Part Two is a nice announcement. Shame there's no decent HD masters.
