[Overseas] Anime News & Announcements

I looked it up on Melonfarmers, seems it was a rape sequence. If it was cut for eroticising rape, then it probably would breach the OPA, but I don't think anything has actually been ruled to breach the OPA for a very long time.

Based on the visual alone that seems like something I'd enjoy. Shame Ponycanyon USA have the rights so it'll get a **** release compared to what could have been if Aniplex had disc rights.

I wonder how Rokka is doing in terms of sales.

On a serious note, I do hope Andrew manages to find a way to acquire Sound! and their other properties.

Couldn't you say that about every non-Aniplex handled show or movie, though? ^^;

edit: That Rokka release looks not too bad. Is it too bad?

I don't know if I could say that about every non-Aniplex handled release, but it's especially the case for Ponycanyon. For a distributor claiming to offer Japanese quality releases for collectors, they have no idea what they're doing. American quality releases at a Japanese price with some of the worst "collectors" packaging I've seen.

I'd say it's probably true that most non-Aniplex handled releases aren't as good as if they'd done it, but the reason you don't hear that being said is because while not as good, they are still very good and have a price that balances out the drop in quality.

Ponycanyon have basically painted a big target on their back by releasing American quality for Japanese prices. It wouldn't surprise me if Aniplex still get all the flak from the masses due to the fact they release so many more big name titles than Ponycanyon but at least you know the price you pay caries some guarantees as to final product.

CR US have added all the remaining episodes of Lupin III: Part 2, taking them on beyond where the old Geneon DVDs stopped and marking the first time that the fourth 'season' of Part 2 has been officially available in English. Crucially, this also covers the two episodes that Miyazaki famously contributed.

If Eden of the East & Psycho Pass 2 Premium Editions are more like the Psycho Pass 1 PE than the Darker Than Black & Soul Eater ones then i'd be interested in picking them up.

Been waiting for Date A Live II for awhile, odd how it's A/B when the 1st season was Region A locked, any idea if it'll be getting a Limited edition like the 1st season did?

Same here with Eden of the East.

As for Date A Live II I'm not sure why the LE isn't listed, it's either not planned or it's not on the site yet.

Heck on another note, I'm surprised that Funimation is actually releasing some of their older titles. First it was Kingdom Season 1 and now it's C³: CubexCursedxCurious and Kingdom Season 2. C³ is even getting a Blu-ray release! So what does this mean? Well it means that there might be a chance that The Tatami Galaxy and Rainbow may finally be given a home release after all this time, especially as C³ was released in subtitle only form (Kingdom was given a Canadian English Dub, Ocean perhaps?).

Everything that's not part of some special line up seems to get a LE so I'd expect so, it's only a chipboard box after all in most cases.

I'll get Psycho Pass 2 PE. Already have the UK complete collection of Eden of the East, so it depends what comes with the PE whether I get it or not.

Man it's annoying when companies do premium releases of things I already bought from them.

I guess I'll be grabbing Kingdom, Psycho Pass and possibly BroCon, depending on whether Andrew swoops in and reveals all of his plans for the UK edition soon :D

Eden of the East? I did wonder why that was coming out now. I guess this is the first time they've sold the TV series and the movies in the same package?
