Ofcom grants Turner 'Adult Swim' licence

The fact that they're asking about shows that are suitable for a younger audience must be that they are looking at a pre-watershed time table as well.

It has to be a channel they are looking at launching.......

For pre-watershed AS, I would go for..
8.00pm Futurama (If Sky drop the rights, I think they are)
8.30pm Home Movies

I couldn't think of anything that could be put on before 8pm apart from DBZ Kai, but I think they'd rather have that on CN

I think Futurama would most likely end up on Comedy Central, if Sky drop the rights. They've definitely got something up their sleeves but I don't expect them to divulge with the details anytime soon......

I doubt it, since Comedy Central UK is 25% owned by Sky

They're not gonna announce anything until they're finalize all the details, which I assume they have been doing since their stuff stopped showing on FX. So I'm going for maybe sometime between Feb-May

I think I said this before, but why do they need to drop the Futurama rights? The Simpsons airs on a couple of channels. Family Guy and American Dad air on two as well. Surely they can just get the older seasons 1 - 4 somehow and Sky have the exclusives.

I bet they'll show Spongebob or something in an "ironic" fashion. Celebrity Deathmatch, er, Beavis and Butthead.

They don't need to, but they're only showing the later episodes, and they dropped Malcolm in the Middle, which makes me think they're dropping all the old shows

Then what will their library be built off? Malcolm didn't ever have the sustainability of something Groening.
Nearly 500 episodes of the simpsons plus The Middle and Modern Family?

I'm not saying they should drop it, but I think they will.

Also, someone pointed out on DS that it's listed under 'Cable and Satellite'. Didn't notice it at first, but this definately means they were lying about the Mobile thing

I hate the fact The Middle is such a middling show in quality and ratings. It's a travesty when awful things rate well, but when shows truly are mediocre and they keep on chugging, its ridiculous.

Yeah, MF is quite good. I like how it puts a fresh spin on regular family sitcom tropes, though I do find Julie Bowen's character to be irritating as hell. If we are talking about ABC comedies though, Cougar Town owns them all.

(Speaking of, NBC's three hour comedy block starts tonight - Community, *Perfect Couples, The Office, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock and *Outsourced)

(*Let's just ignore these two.)

(Parks and Rec is finally back! Amazing comedy.)

(TV thread, I know, I know...)

I don't know what they've got planned but I'd hazard a guess that some adult swim shows like Childrens Hospital will probably appear and probably some UK comedy shows as well. I've got a funny feeling Falling Skies will probably appear on it as well.

It's just a matter of waiting, tbh. The only thing we have to worry about is if it turns out awful. And that will only be if they show Robot Chicken 10 times a day

I doubt the channel will even last long if it does ever come on. I'm giving it six months.

Really depends what they put on it, as I said if they put something like Falling Skies on it then Sky will be more liable to push it on their advertisements.

I've got a funny feeling your action block (that's if they do have one) would have shows like Heroes and like in favour of anime.

But they already failed on Bravo before, if they were gonna launch AS, they would want it to last longer than 2 years, let alone 6 months

I think Falling Skies would work on Syfy or something. With AS, I imagine they would wanna advertise it during as a 'cult adult cartoon' channel

Speaking of Syfy, I just noticed The Tick, a show Jackson Publick worked on before Venture Bros. is airing on there

EDIT: New Adult Swim DVD's for 28th February
Metalocalypse S3 (£12.99)
Metalocalypse S1-3 (£29.99)

Surely an AS channel would only come here if website views and dvd sales were good, you know that being an indicator of how popular there series are here and all.
AS said that while they were on FX, they were usually the most watched thing on Saturday Night FX.

One of the times BARB reported Robot Chicken, it got 60k viewers, at least 10 times more than TCM2 gets.
