Ofcom grants Turner 'Adult Swim' licence

Remember the old saying, "If it sounds too good to be true - it is."

Helps me avoid a spiral of drink and sitting pondering.

This is just them reporting on what was said on facebook. The ofcom listing's still there

Yeah, it still doesn't add up. I asked the [as] man on Twitter about television deals and he went oddly quiet, I don't think this is an open and shut case just yet.

Also, I just noticed how this is worded:
Future TV airings of adult swim shows will be announced on the website and via our facebook page, so you should check back there for future information

They never said 'no, not at the moment', they sounded like there will be stuff on TV, and it will be on the FB in the future...

...but then again, I could be looking into it too much

But either way, I'm 99% sure it's not a renewal of the mobile channel. It doesn't make sense. Plus the fact that they said they had something in the pipeline makes me think it's this..

The fact that Turner took Robot Chicken off the FX when they were apparently quite keen to renew the deal. I go and stick my neck out to say as far that I'm sure Turner are prepping an adult swim or TNT channel.

I think they should launch both. They might already be launching AS, and IMO, they should rebrand TCM2 into TNT

Well, Media Boy seems to not be buying it, which is a good sign :D

How is Mediaboy for reliabilty? I know that the guys on the Digitalspy forum are rarely wrong on these things as well.
I have been following his lists for years, he's really reliable and has some insiders, apparently.

Also, one of the guys in the thread told me he knows some of the Turner heads

Oh, does he then? Does he know something then or are they keeping their cards close to their chests?

Might PM him in February..

Speaking of February, AXN should be launching then. Anyone know of a link to where Kaze said they had a deal or something with a UK broadcaster? Since Electric Sofa isn't it, and if AXN isn't it, then AS would be at the top of my list..

I can't imagine it being with AXN as Sony must own a fair few licenses anyway, possibly Electric Sofa.

Sky are going to shuffle some the channel numbers about in Febuary, most notably MTV are now moving to the general entertainment section of the guide. If successful could Turner follow suit?

Moving CN to the entertainment section? I really doubt it, since even though it would be in entertainment, Ofcom would still list it as a kid's channel.

Or launch it as an 24/7 channel with classic toons from the eightys/ninetys on it during the day time and more risque stuff at night.

The guys on Digitalspy don't seem that convinced it's mobile broadcast renewal, even if they are just buying the license in case they ever can bother to launch it.

They have Boomerang, but I think they don't air classic stuff during the day D:

I think the best option should be either:
Cut CN's hours and give AS the 9/10pm-6am slot. Then close CN: Too and make it CNHD and ASHD

Or launch a 24/7 AS channel with loads of anime during the day.

First one I think is the best option since they won't have a lot of anime, and that way we get a CNHD and ASHD

EDIT: Hm, looking good.. http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/tvlicensing/cs/2095.htm

The problem with licenses in the UK, is that it's cheaper and less bureaucratic to broadcast from here to mainland Europe, I've always got this sneaking suspicion this could be for a Pan-Scandanavian license or something.

Yeah, somebody at Turner has filled in the wrong sheet, as they now have a license for a digital linear television service, of course this doesn't mean it will happen, it just looks more likely now.

Now my Brother is looking to do an internship at CNN........hmm........

EDIT: Something is afoot, they're asking Twitter users what shows are most young people friendly and what are the most adult shows, something is up.........

Can't be, since the UK is the only place they have been airing AS shows recently.

I don't think they would have filled in the wrong sheet since I assume it's the same person doing licenses for all the channels over Europe.

And yeah, they must be grabbing audience info or something..
