Manga Entertainment Discussion

I repeat; I am so glad I am not a subwhore and that I enjoy watching 95% of my anime with an english dub(mostly due to me sometimes not even watching when the anime is on, so at least when I can hear everything in english, I still know what is going on!!! lol)

Ok I'm a little confused out this. On amazon they have it up to buy and not preorder however on play they say it's still on preorder and isn't even released yet. Does anyone know if this is even out this week?
It's not out until June as far as I know. It's a really cool cover and miles better than the R4 one. I'm looking forward to getting this to replace my VHS copy! :D

I'm so glad that someone else likes Dubs. Sick of hearing 'just release it sub only'

Bring on the Dub fans

I used to only watch subs, but i decided to give the dubs on GitS: SAC 2nd GIG a go and i really enjoyed it, so i'm going to sample a lot more dubs now.

They are really good dubs. Be careful though they are not all as good as that. Don't want you watching a really bad one and being put off for life

I think now though the dubs seem to be very good (bar 1 or 2). If you go back to the 90's releases they were poor, but since I originally started watching anime with dubs like those I don't mind them.

Which is why I could put up with the Goku Midnight Eye dub last night, it really wasn't that good :D

The next series i was planning to watch dub, if i get round to rewatching them, were Mahou Sensei Negima and Haruhi when it gets released.

Anyone know of the quality of those?

Well I've only seen Haruhi subbed, but I changed to the dub track on a few occasions just to see how well certain scenes translate and sound in English.

I'm not exactly the best person to take advice from on how well a dub is because I watch everything subbed, but it just sounded like your bog standard dub to me. :p

Haruhi has a great dub group. Negima had an ok cast, but I wouldn't give it 5-stars. I think Negi's dub was well done though, since there's a unique tone to when he speaks. :D

Just noticed this. That is some great cover art, much better than that used for the VHS copy I'll soon be replacing. I wonder whether the disc will contain Manga UK's in-house dub used for their VHS version or Pioneer/Geneon's more recent one.

Well they have four English dubs to choose from so they certainly have thier pick. Personally I think it's more than likely that they'll use a remastered a version of their old dub rather than the Pioneer version.

Personally I'm just gunning for good subtitles because i'm pretty much in firm belief that Yasuo Yamada's performance as Lupin can't be recreated in another language.

If the Australian Secret of Mamo disc is anything to go by, the English audio track is 5.1 which most likely means it'll be the Pioneer/Geneon dub unless if they remixed one of the older dubs (which I doubt).

I agree with this and I'd say the same for Goro Naya as Zenigata as well.

Well it looks like nothing's come to fruition.

If I get any contact from Jerome, then I'll sort out this thread and get it back up and running.

Shame really.

Mamo cover art is out and apparently so is the DVD! Looks great! I'm just praying that the subs are good.

Wow, that looks awesome! Can't wait for this movie, now! ^__^

Have you figured out the mystery of when it's due for release?

Sadly no but play.com seems to think it's being released in June which to me seems an unnecessarily long wait.

I have a feeling you are going to be shocked by this version of Lupin CGeek. Unlike Cagliostro this Lupin doesn't save a princess from a tower without expecting something in return and that's exactly the way it should be. That was my problem with Cagliostro... he was too nice. We shall see if you react positively or negatively to how Lupin's characterization should really be depicted.
