List of anime which airs on UK TV?

Blaze

Hi. This is my first post, and I've been interested in knowning what anime airs on the TV in the UK (as the title suggests...)

So far the only anime I know of is
Ultimate Muscle (Kinnikuman Nisei) on KIX.
Mew Mew Power (Tokyo Mew Mew) on PopGirl.
Pokemon on CN.

Thanks in advance
- Blaze

There's definitely a thread about this somewhere, haven't got time to search for it myself atm (thanks to the search not having a "search only in title" option) but it should be there if you have a look.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! That's a good one!

In all seriousness, it's pretty much frick all until either someone launches an anime channel (Unlikely) or Adult Swim launches a channel in the uk (More likely. Get Tim And Eric on series link nao!!)

Also, Pokemon is like this
Diamond and Pearl: Disney XD
Advanced: CN Too
Original: According to PartiallyMetalAlchemist, it's gonna start on Kix or POP soon. I doubt it, but he's usually right about this stuff

This is the full list

Ultimate Muscle - Kix
Stitch! - Disney Cinemagic
Pokemon (Advanced Challenge,Advanced Battle,Battle Dimension,Galactic Battles - CN and Disney XD and CITV
Mew Mew Power - Pop Girl
Pretty Cure - Pop Girl
Bakugan: Battle Brawlers + New Vestroia on CN, and CITV
Beybalde: Metal Fusion - Nicktoons
Yu-Gi-Oh GX -Nicktoons
Dinosaur King - Disney XD
Avatar:Last Airbender (Yes it deserves to be on this list) - Nicktoons
Digimon: Data Squad - Kix
Flying House - Gospel Channel
Super Book - Gospel Channel + KICC TV
Hello Kitty: Stump Village - Cartoonito

pretty sure that's all of it (yugioh 5d's isn't shown anymore)

I'm going to add it to the streaming sticky then and slightly change the name.

Leaving Avatar off for now as I agree it's not really anime (though it is an exceptionally good cartoon in its own right).

It makes absolutely zero sense for Avatar: The Last Airbender to be there whilst Spongebob Squarepants is not.

OK, it's technically not anime but it is animated in Korea as a lot of the glut of anime is sent to. The character designs are clearly anime-esque and this is a series for teenagers but it has probably the most serious story of all Western kids shows EVER (only second to stuff like Naruto). There are so many things unique to anime that appear also in Avatar like Toph's tsundere attitude,Momo the weird pet they have for no reason but is cute and plays no part in the anime(Eva,Bleach,Star Driver), They even have a freakin' beach episode in the show. There are clearly Japanese characters use throughout the show and just the fact that it's not done by 'Japanese' people is not enough to say it's not 100% anime, but about 80%. It was made using the anime style but for a western audience

Sorry to get angry, but I really love the show and to say Spongebob Squarepants is as worthy as Avatar to be anime is really stupid

Add that to the fact that it has no input from Japan on the creative side of things, and you just summed up the major issue. Even ignoring your "anime style" comments (in the same way that they left off the scores of murder charges to get Al Capone on tax evasion), this is enough to have it left off the list.

Anime is not about "worth", it is about "is it anime", or the term loses all meaning.

Wait, what? I like Avatar. I frequently defend things from the Americas around these parts. As ilmaestro said, though, its either anime (or manga) or its not. SpongeBob, as with The Simpsons and a lot of cartoons are animated in Korea. Means nothing. Kappa Mikey isn't anime, either and that has a BEAT CRUSADERS opening.

Hey, that Panty & Stocking looks like a fun Nickelodeon show.

Digimon: Data Squad (Savers) is also showing on Kix!
Naturally, like Mew Mew Power and Pop Girl, unavailable on Cable it seems...
I think Virgin Media aren't interested in channels that have less than 0.1% audience share.

Kinda annoying, but atleast the channel list isn't spammed up with crap like Wedding TV and Wedding TV Asia

We have a Gospel channel ._. and it has anime.... Man England is messed up :\ aside from that, the list consists of fairly badly dubbed anime that I don't watch >.> typical.

Although I'll watch Beyblade for the Nastalgia. I think I'll just stick with Kinnikuman Nisei (Ultimate Muscle).

PS: I thought they cancelled Avatar :O

Thank you for the list.

Nope. "Avatar: The Last Airbender" finished of the creators accord. They are doing a sequel miniseries thing called "Avatar: The Legend of Korra" set about 75 after the first story - in which the world has changed and the setting is apparently going to be more steampunk. So, that, in addition to Korra being a kickass female, makes me excited for it. Not cancelled; not in the slightest.
