Just curious - why does the word "Kiznaiver" appear under my username on my profile?

I've just learned that this is the name of an anime. I'm not sure why it appears on my profile.

I can't find any meaning for it anywhere on this website, and I can't find a way to get rid of it.

Sincere apologies if this is something I should know, or if it's explained elsewhere. What is this please?

I don't really mind - lol I doubt (m)any people have looked at my About page. Just curious really.

It's a title related to the number of posts you've made.

I have one too, currently I'm a checks notes Mad Scientist... man, where do I go from here? 🤔

Yeah agreed. It's a bit meaningless to me to have a random show by my name.

Again though, I don't mind really. Absolutely not a hill I'm willing to die on, lol. Just something I happened to notice.
Whilst it is the name of the show. It's also what the characters in it are. So you are "A Kiznaiver"

They had a vote on the original set in 09! This was the result: Forum Titles and it was updated in 2016, the year Kiznaiver came out: New member titles
Maybe time for another update?

Kiznaiver has mixed reviews. I enjoyed it well enough, it's Trigger x Mari Okada. If either are to your liking you might enjoy it. The OP is a banger.

On the profile page… Wait, are you guys not seeing the titles under/next to your and everyone else’s avatar on every single post? Is there some super-minimalist way of browsing the forums I’m not aware of?

@D1tchd1gger beat me to it (although I’d point out “they” still walk among you 😛). Is it not the case with most forums that usernames are custom, but titles are earned through deeds (mostly posting)? As one of only two State Alchemists (and I haven’t seen the other for quite some time) I’d like to see more in our ranks. I will not seek, nor will I accept a custom title.

HAHA, omg, I never noticed that it was under my name on every post as well! Omg, how observant of me. Derren Brown would have a field day with me, I swear.

I have noticed similar things under other people's usernames though, and it's always confused me. I assumed it was just a randomly generated name. I didn't know it was related to the number of posts.

I'd argue that it's not a very intuitive system. If the name is indeed related to number of posts, I'd much rather see an explicit "number of posts" count, or "member since", or location or something.

Again though, just a personal preference, and I don't really mind. Thank you to everyone for clarifying what it means!

Unless my memory is failing me (again) I think at least post count, possibly all of those things used to be there under your avatar in the old, old forum.

It’s funny that the topic of old/new web came up recently, I think the idea of forum titles is just one of those differences. Their non-customisable nature serves as a kind of indicator of how active/longstanding a member someone is (as long as people know what they mean, which I suppose the posts itt are kinda suggesting otherwise) and wanting a different/better title was incentive to post more so it changed. I think it’s a fair point that some of these titles are probably becoming a bit meaningless to people now, but I feel like if we had a vote these days all like, 20 regular posters would just vote for their tier to be something they wanted and they might as well just be made custom.

Edit: Are pips/stars a possible solution? I’ll take a general’s rank.

The idea was that people who contribute a lot to the site (whether actual current staff or not) can have their own, but since a lot of the staff don't post as much as the regular folks (and we don't have a massive number of regulars) the custom titles aren't seen as much, I guess!

If anyone wants to organise and vote out some of the really dated ones (or devise an emoji-based rank system) it's easy enough to swap them out for something more evergreen.

The forum software also supports 'trophies' if anyone wants to seriously argue for post-based achievements... 🫠
