General Politics Thread

I'm not as against chatbots as some are but this is utterly awful :(

A new report suggests that the UK's age verification measures may be having unforeseen knock-on effects on web traffic, with the real winners being sites that flout the law entirely.

Web users in the UK will likely be familiar with the new measures: a lot of my usual social media haunts now require age verification to even let me look at my direct messages as part of the Online Safety Act's stipulations. I swear that's the real reason I've not been getting back to folks in my direct messages—and not, you know, the usual excuse of a mix of overwhelm and straightforward forgetfulness. Social apps aside, many genuinely adult websites are restricting access too.

About ultra conservative right wing zealot Charlie Kirk being shot and killed, I don't condone murdering people for expressing their views but I do hate all of the garbage that spewed from his mouth.

Man what another utterly depressing miserable week for politics in this country. We got to see the whole political and royal establishment roll out the red carpet yet again for Donald Trump and try to fit their collective heads as far up his backside as possible. Starmer is no doubt delighted with himself for wasting god knows how much tax payer money on this embarrassing national display of toadying, which of course we will ultimately not recieve anything in return for out of Trump.

And worst of all is Your Party's complete implosion yesterday, in such an embarrassing way. It's fallen at the very first hurdle and died before it even began. It's heartbreaking. The dream of a strong popular party with the socialist policies people are crying out for is now deferred for who know how many years, when it's so so very badly needed now. Sultana and Corbyn are toast as any kind of meaningful figureheads of the left, whoever is to blame, they've taken each other down. The whole thing is just a complete embarrassment at this point. I really had pinned my hopes on them. I (thankfully) didn't pay for membership as soon as I got that email that the portal to buy it was open yesterday morning, but it would have been the first political party I was ready to join. But due to pride and ego they've scuppered everyone's hopes, and lost all the good will they had earned. They've set the left in this country back years, and all but guaranteed Farage will be our next prime minister. This was too important to mess up like this, it's unforgivable. I really hope I'm wrong about all this and just being hyperbolic. Well we've still got the greens hey.

This was going to happen and it has and Labour still want to go through with mandatory digital ID.
Only because Tony Blair wants ID cards and Two Tier wants to be like Blair.

I'm sure digital ID will make little or no impact to stopping the flow of people fleeing war torn France etc

As you've probably gathered from my previous posts I'm a big trump hater and can't stand any and all things associated with him, his lackeys and stooges etc. I'm getting vibes from other liberal minded persons like myself that a tipping point is coming soon when the wannabe tyrant's "throne" is going to be toppled and some resemblance of normalcy will be restored.
