Cartoons and comics are still a niche within a niche - in my own personal experience, people in this country still think that all anime is tentacle porn, to a certain extent.

With my own past experience I would agree with that, but I also have to agree with Jayme, that it is changing toward the up side of the graph. Conventions attendance increasing. even new conventions being created, in spite of the fact that there is less, to even no anime on the tele.(God Bless Film 4). There's got to be some fire behind all this increase in anime and manga smoke. But still having said that, the only thing holding that fire back is the fire door of ingrained culture whose dogma states cartoons and comics are only for the under 16s, but cracks are starting to appear. I don't know how much longer it will be able to withstand the strain. :wink:
