Defective or Disappointing UK Anime Discs

Yes, both Japanese audio tracks, English subtitles and also Bandai's English dub. The disc contents are the same as the individual releases from 2007/2008. The double pack is OOP, but the individual films are still in print.
Hi
I assume this Patlabor 1 Blu-ray has both Japanese tracks listed here on Cdjapan is the one I would get, correct?

AL UK BD of The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes is a port of Sentai's BD with the theatrical master. The AL France BD uses the home video master.

This is more of a query about potentially disappointing discs rather than pointing out flaws, but it's kind of on topic so here goes.
What's the subtitle quality like on the more recent releases of Attack On Titan?

I don't currently own any of the series on Blu but I remember the first release of Season one seemed to have terrible dubtitles if I remember correctly.

Thankfully I watched fansubs and streamed it on crunchyroll back in the day when the early seasons were airing but I knew a friend who had that initial release and was very disappointed by it. It's been re-released multiple times since then and I was wondering if the subsequent UK/US releases are any better now.

I'd like to pick it up at some point with confidence that they've at least put the effort in to include an actual translation. I also hate loads of missing lines and really bad syncing issues. I haven't seen the show past since season 2 so it'd be nice to catch up now it's finished and I'm pretty positive I'll enjoy it all so I think a purchase might be in order as long as the discs aren't terrible.

If I remember correctly, the UK release of the first season was authored locally with a different translation to the Funimation release, while Season 2 onwards were based on the Funimation/Crunchyroll discs.

Funimation's typesetting (especially when there's multiple overlapping dialogue and on-screen text) isn't amazing, but it isn't such a big problem in AoT since there's comparatively little on-screen text - perks of being a fantasy anime. And any typesetting is better than Manga's Arial subs for season 1.

From what I remember from skimming through my discs, at least in season 3 there's no lyrics subtitles for the OP&ED, which is a big minus for me personally, but that may just be me.

But there has no been no reclassification at the BBFC since 2014, which there would need to be for new subtitles.
Wouldn't be the first time something was changed that should have been resubmitted but wasn't, Code Geass comes to mind.

I'm your guinea pig. Just placed an order... I've long wanted AoT S1 with proper subs.

Has anyone else had issues with their copy of Blue Giant on Blu-ray? Around the 1:04.00 mark my copy freezes and skips pretty badly it keeps doing it at random points after this. I am wondering if I am unlucky or if it is a wider issue.

Ah that's good to hear. I wonder if the rest of the seasons will get steelbook or whether I'll end up with an OCD triggering mishmash of different editions. :p Thanks for letting me know. Appreciate it.

Season 2 & 3 already got Steelbooks
Regarding Season 4? well... as the original release is 6 discs, it wouldn't fit a regular Steelbook unless one stacks discs. Won't expect a Steelbook anytime soon as they are still selling this season in 3 parts

Oh I'm aware of the 2nd and 3rd one getting steelbooks as well. I was just kind of thinking aloud about the ones after that, to be honest the naming conventions are so weird I wasn't sure if it was just considered season 4 or whether there were actually 5 with all that weird "final" naming. Yeah I wouldn't have thought it would be soon either with the last episodes just being recently released. I was just kind of musing about what will happen with the releases going forward now there's no "standard" unified edition at the moment. There will probably be some "complete" boxset at some point with the series being so popular I'd guess.

I've seen this has been posted about before, way, way back but I just stuck in my Manga UK DVD copy of the Macross Plus OVA and the discs are all mislabelled and because the DVD I have is part of a twin-pack with the Movie Edition which I don't own as I picked this up individually in CeX, I don't have the first two episodes to watch.

From my research it seems OVA disc one contains Episode 3 - 4, OVA disc two includes the Movie Edition and the Movie Edition disc contains Episode 1 - 2 so I'll have to pick up the Movie Edition on DVD to get Episode 1 - 2.

I didn't pick up the blu-ray Ultimate Edition as I don't like awkward sized cases. I will be picking up the standard blu-ray for the Movie Edition though but I am still hoping down-the-line we'll get a regular sized LE / CE which includes the OVA's.

Tbh, the Disney+ versions of Macross Plus are probably better quality than these old DVD's but I don't have much need for a D+ subscription at this point in time. Plus I just want to own a version of the OVA's on home video.
