Death Note: The Manga

I'm thinking of getting the first few volumes of this, but I've already seen the anime. So, I want to ask: Is it worth getting the manga?

it's DEFINATLY worth getting the manga just for it being in your collection

i want to ask people...is death note the BEST horror (if they call it that) manga there is around? and also should it be listed in a list with all the greats like akira?[/b]

I really wouldn't say that it would need to be with teh almighty AKIRA, Because AKIRA is just groundbreaking in bringing anime to the western world. Hence its so popular. Death Note is not that, It comes and goes like all JUMP stories, But it is a good'en.

As for it being the best horror story. I wouldn't say so, From what I've seen, MONSTER is a much much better nomination for the Best Horror story.

Okay, after many months of not getting the manga, I finally caved in Borders this afternoon and bought the first two volumes - now I'm addicted to Death Note all over again.

Someone had told me about the manga ending - and despite how much I like/hate Light I didn't want the way I saw Light in the anime ending to be destroyed. But...

It is impossible to resist Death Note. Actually the art style is really interesting. I feel like I'm watching a film noir. It's interesting where there are differences to the anime. How when Light meets Ryuk, the number of names in Light's Death Note is already high. It really shocked me. And that both Light and L are essentially the same, just at different ends of the spectrum. Both believing they are rightouse.

I dunno, somewhere deep down, I guess I just want to believe that Light is a good kid.

Light's just confused. You can't blame him. :D

Light also does look SO much younger in the first part, yet you don't notice the transition in appearance at all really.

I was surprised by the age thing too - he seems sweet and er... dare I say it... harmless... but WE know better!

Like the way in volume 2 you only see L's hairstyle and not his face - keep thinking -what does he look like? then remember i've already seen the anime! D'oh!

The suspence is very clever...

The story had 12 great volumes, you get hooked at the end of the first volume and keeps you asking for more, even in the last volume, leaves you wondering could there be more,

and yes there is, when they're eventually released next year, 13 & Another Note

Volume 13: How to Read, isn't a manga as such. Its more of a side book kinda thing. It just wraps up with text what happened after the story along with other things.

The novel should be interesting, I hope the writer is up to par with the rest.

Yea, I knew 13 was going to be a wrap up.

But the novel, I think, will be very interesting, its nothing to do with another notebook, but more to do with L & the case meantioned in Volume 2

Death Note whats there to say bad about it 8) . Its one of my favorite anime series and manga series as we'll. At one point I stopped reading but when 2007 Comic Con came around every body was buying one or two volumes of manga then I request for 70$ worth of Death Note manga bought all the rest of the volumes I was missing. Have I finished the series yet no :? I will read them all one day.

I'm reading the first volume of Death Note now, and I'm really enjoying it! I've already seen the (awesome) anime series, so I didn't think the manga would be as compelling as it is. The art is just so extraordinary!

Now, I really want the other volumes!
