Death Note: The Manga

I think that the manga is much better, as there is so much more detail. also some specific scenes that are important are sooo goood, no spoilers included! :p

Just read volumes all the way to 7 in one go O.O

Mega addictive, very gripping, you're kept on the edge of your seat! Although I'm happy to stop at 7 for now, it's a good resting point, as a ton of stuff is wrapped up at that point.

I may give the later volumes a go... once a lot of them come out at once, cos I hate having to wait XD

I've read the first 6 - 7 and there pretty cool. Although i'm yet to watch the anime. And seeing how its liscensed and all i think i'll just wait for the DVDs to come out in US and import them :p

Ive read up to volume 11 and Its still pretty good it gos volumes 1 - 7 great volumes 8- 10 boring and then 11 great again :D

Death Note is the absolute last manga you should be reading out of order, simply because the whole point of the entire Manga is that we're following Light and his plots.

I do agree that 8 to 10 weren't up to the standard of the previous seven volumes, 11 was though. My normal manga reading habit is to only read a couple of chapters or the equivalent thereof at a time, but with the exception of volumes 9 and 10 I found myself completely unable to put Death Note down. I'm normally fairly patient about gaps inbetween releases but I seriously cannot wait for volume twelve though, particularly after the way volume 11 ended.

i have read all the deathnote manga and it was fantastic it's a shame it had to end :(
L was of course the best one! i cosplayed him and near in aug at amecon...deathnote was pretty popular this time...but somehow every1 wanted to go as final fantasy ppl

I so loved L and Light battling their wits against each other and I was reading Vol 7 at full throttle and then gaargh. I totally have to have a time for mourning before I can continue, I was so gutted. I do have the rest 8-12 of Death Note already as after reading the first 3 straight in a row, I just went to get all the rest almost the next day it was that good heh. Will finish them off one day for sure, maybe after I catch up to the current status of Samurai Deeper Kyo (a great favorite of mine). Oddly, I haven't even looked out for the DN anime. I've been more curious at the live action films and how they'll resolve things in them rather than just following the exact same story line, it doesn't bother me if it's different in the anime or live action as long as it's justified and works for the whole. plus duh' I want more L :p

Near and Mello really aren't as bad as people make them out to be. L does stand apart from other characters. But, Near and Mello are really cool as well.

Fine. You convinced me. I ran out of unread manga anyway
Anyway, the way they were introduced didn't make me hate them, just go hmmmm okey where are we now.

I bought volumes 1-3 in Waterstones on special offer not realising how addictive and expensive it'd be...for a week later I now own volumes 1-9, I love it! Looking forward to seeing the anime when it reaches UK shores, hopefully not too long to wait.

I got 3 5 6 & 9 a while back & could never get the first couple volumes, So i ordered 1 2 & 4 about 3 weeks back and vol 1 only came on saturday lol. Been reading as much as i can. Best Manga I have picked up this year bar none.

I understood that Death Note 13 is background on characters, Q & A, titbits and so forth rather than a continuation of the story?

Light is cool and twisted, what's not to like :D

Finished the rest 8-12 volumes. Up to v 5-7 Death Note was one of the best manga I've read, sadly it just lost momentum after that. Still, when I got over the dissapointment and picked up the rest to read it still had good pacing, grip, and great art, so on the whole it's still one of the best. The ending left me with slightly mixed feelings, possibly because the way Light reacted seemed somewhat out of character what the heck happened to his superior mind? I would of thought that being cornered like that would in itself have been just the kind of challenge that would've appealed to him, instead he just sort of falls to pieces. Light is a true psycopath, emotionless but narcissistic, maybe it was the losing hmmm. Anyway, great stuff.

The way light acts is sort of out of character, though I figured that was the whole point. The guys just lost everything he's worked for over the years. Light's obsessed with being superior, taking up the idea that he is doing this for a kind of greater good. I really liked how beneath the cold, calculated demeanor Light is as flawed and human as anyone else.

It's a tad cliched I suppose, but I found the end to be totally gripping.
