UK Anime Distributor Crunchyroll/Funimation/Manga UK Discussion Thread

Ordering Bocchi US release from Amazon would cost me 67,11 € while ordering the UK release from AOL costs 39,34 €.
Meant that there isn't much difference in what I paid for the US release. Got it for around £40 from All Your Music on eBay using a 25% off 2 voucher.

UK release is good for those who didn't import though. I just wish it'd been sooner as I'd have supported this release instead. Didn't think it was coming.

Likewise, but I did order at the high price for a US import last year, as I was starting to think it had become one of the critically acclaimed but corporately ignored non-shonen that wouldn't get released here. Regardless, well worth the money so I don't mind, though I do wish it was a creator who was benefiting from me paying more and not a corpo 😅.

So I remembered Dagashi Kashi was a thing and thought I'd do a rewatch.
Turns out Crunchyroll doesn't have season 1! Thought F it I'll just get the blu ray as I know there is one.
Turns out that's crazy expensive.
s2 goes for about £20 - £25 while s1 is £90+!
Any info on WTF is going on with it??

Remember, stay physical!!
Season 1 was cheap when I bought it a couple of years ago. It must have gone out of print.

While I'm happy we are finally Date a Live Season 5 in the UK, I just wish we got the other seasons as well.

I'm aware the franchise was subject to home video licensing issues in the English side of things, but I thought they resolved it by now and released other Date a Live Seasons especially Season 1, as currently in the US it cost you a arm and a leg.

Crunchyroll UK June 2025.

9/6 - Date A Live V
9/6 - God's Game We Play
30/6 - Log Horizon Season 1
30/6 - Log Horizon Season 2
30/6 - Log Horizon Season 3

Pre-orders are now live on AOL.
I think it's funny CR are doing another badly priced re-release. You can buy Season 3 of Log Horizon right now for 1/3rd the rrp of the new one.

Yeah, the Log Horizon releases are pretty steep at £40-£45 per season for a standard release.

If you're okay with used - CEX has both S2 parts for a combined cost of £7+£5.9 postage.

MVM's season 1 is a little harder to find on the second hand market, granted.

It's still great to see them released again though, and hopefully the price will come down to something more reasonable at some point.

Does anyone else own the UK release of The Dungeon of Black Company - the limited edition version?

I've just received it and the art book has pages missing / repeated- what should be pages 25 through 32, are instead 33 to 40, before the actual correctly placed 33 to 40 again.

I found an unboxing where the pages looked correct, but I think that was the American version. It would be useful to know if I've just got an unfortunate copy, and therefore worth trying to get a replacement, or if all the UK copies are like this.

If you're on the annual Fan tier subscription you may want to check what currency your next payment is in. I got charged $79.99, the US amount and not €39.99 like I normally would as that sub is no longer available outside the US.

Thankfully customer services, when I got past their stupid AI assistant were able to refund me very quickly. I'm not paying $80 for the Fan tier when Mega Fan is €80 here.

Anyway changed to paying €6 a month through Google Pay for Fan tier, which doesn't cost me anything due to the PAYG plan I'm on with Three. I spend €20 a month with a bonus 20% credit through Three+ to activate my plan and I keep the €20 balance on my account.

Not sure if I'll pre-order it or not but I'll be getting the standard edition for Solo Leveling at some point.

MHA I still need to pick up the previous seasons from S3 onwards.

Iruma-kun I'm yet to see but I feel I'll enjoy but once again I need to pick up the previous season still.

Ossan is just another isekai I'm not interested in though if anyone recommends it I may check it out.

Unless you like battle tournaments (I find them incredibly boring) I wouldn't recommend Ossan.

I'll get Iruma-kun too. I have the Sentai season 1 but plan to get the AL version of that as well as I prefer their packaging.

I'm wondering if the Manga UK BD of Gargantia is better than the Viz release. The listings on blu-ray.com suggest that they're different discs (supposedly the audio on the Viz discs is 16 bit DTS, while the Manga UK discs are supposedly 24 bit PCM). This review claims that the UK discs were authored locally and has unlocked subtitles (did the Viz release have locked subtitles?).

Can someone with the UK release confirm these details? Also comment on the picture quality and subtitle legibility (the Viz white subs can be hard to read and tend to blend in). If these discs were done by Manga UK, and aren't just a copy of the Viz release, I'm thinking there's a pretty good chance that the video quality is significantly improved (the Viz release is known to not be that good). But I'm not sure what Manga UK's reputation was for their discs back then, so if someone could comment on that, it might also be helpful.

Not asking at random; I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble to try tracking down the OOP Manga UK BDs or not.
