UK Anime Distributor Crunchyroll/Funimation/Manga UK Discussion Thread

If you change your region to France you can pickup the Collectors Edition of Chainsaw Man for £65.73 instead of £130 for the English. It’s been covered before but I’m reliably told that all the important bits are dual-language with the exception of the discs themselves, which are currently £15.99 at Amazon and HMV.

Spent £200 before the main Christmas sales have even started 😭 CR Collectors Editions rarely seem to drop too low though so £36 is a bargain.

I've seen that Crunchyroll US will be having a Cyber Monday sale/deal on 2nd December:

$25 off $100
$50 off $150
$100 off $250

I believe the Crunchyroll membership discounts will apply on top as well.

The current 40% off MSRP sale may not be as good as Cyber Monday (if you're looking to do a large order), as the membership discount doesn't stack on sale items.

I think Crunchyroll sells their stock at 20% off MSRP all year round (outside of sales), so when it goes back to that for Cyber Monday, the 100 off 250 is 40% off by itself and then the membership discount on top.

Also, if you do not pay for one of the higher tiers of CR membership, you can use code CRAFF15 for 15% off non-sale items.

I wonder how early in the morning the 12/2 sale will go live on Crunchyroll US - I work tomorrow so I'll have to either get up in the middle of the night to make my purchases, or get up an hour earlier in the morning...

Fortunately for those of us who’ve already placed a large order, Cyber Monday is much worse and doesn’t stack with member benefits.IMG_1144.jpeg

That's disappointing. Although, £50 off £150 is ~33% off, so it's not super terrible at least compared to the 40% off for $250 spend on the US store.

Shame about the membership benefits not stacking though. Us Brits always getting shafted.

Edit: I've just seen that the membership benefit is also not stacking in the US Cyber Monday either, this time around.

Damn! looks like the RRPs have nudged up again, or rather they've ditched the £39.99 and £44.99 price points completely.

Apothecary Diaries has a £45 RRP. I'm not sure what accounts for the discrepancy in their SE pricing other than the good old dartboard method.

Neither the US or UK branches are doing a CE for Horimiya s2. And the SE for s2 won't fit in the s1 box. WOE!

Tried to order from the US site (primarily stuff from Discotek, AnimEIGO and Aniplex). Because almost every item in my cart is a back order item, you can't use PayPal, you can only use a credit card (which I don't have). Highly frustrating... And it has been like this for months now.

I hope at some point after Christmas items will get back in stock again.

With full apologies to whoever warned against them; I am never ordering direct from crunchyroll ever again.

They can't help Parcelforce and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say the reason their flimsy cardboard box was ripped open and sellotaped back together was an overzealous customs officer but they can help not shipping a £250 order with just one small piece of packing paper covering the top that does absolutely nothing and leaving everything lose and bouncing about. Especially not when the Chainsaw Man limited edition doesn't even fit in the box without placing it diagonally. Absolutely appalling.

Fortunately Chainsaw Man hasn't taken any damage but all the secondary cardboard boxes they use in their standard collectors editions for the extras are completely smushed.
