Channel 4 might show more anime

Also why not great a massive general petition to bring anime to UK TV in general, then focus on what channel its on.

Because TV channels don't work like that. If its brings viewers and ratings it gets on, if it doesn't it doesn't.

We should get Hugh, Emma and The Claw back on Propeller :)

Tachi got their first - the random battles against Aion will be the worst part of the grind. I'm OK, I don't attack unless provoked. ^_^

Great, but won't I need a party of spellers to be able to combat the numerous monsters lurking these forums.

I smell you, TTGL Tard - you illiterate son of a bitch. Go make another account on UKA instead.

Jimmy Carr takes the chair in another series of 8 out of 10 Cats. Starting 8
January at 10pm on Channel 4

I would most like to see:
Death Note
Bleach
Fullmetal Alchemist
Cowboy Bebop

You have shown the Death Note live-action movies on Film4 and the other
three did well on the old AnimeCentral channel

I didn't want to comment on this until I have seen all 4 choices put forward to appear on UK TV. I only just finished watching Death Note today as it happens. Apart from Cowboy Bebop I can't see the rest being good choices for UK TV.

They require the viewer to watch from episode 1 till completion, so that will put off new viewers from watching the series half way through. The shows required for UK TV need to have more episodic nature, so the viewer doesn't require seeing previous episodes to enjoy them. So then the series can get a gradual increase of viewers through the run.

Something like Cowboy Bebop where majority of episodes are each there very own self contained story would work perfectly. You could miss half the episodes of Cowboy Bebop and it still be able start watch half way the series and still enjoy it.

Be honest it maybe better for the TV channel to be showing more Anime Movies. I can't remember the last time something like Akira or the Ghost in the Shell movies were shown on TV.

There, I think I've summed up the community beautifully. Don't mind me folks I'm just here for the cake

Well old bean not if you've played portal.

anyhow don't want my post to digress this thread to much, but I have this to say on the topic. As far as terrestrial channels are concerned of airing anime, your better finding a needle in a haystack. Ya better of getting sky and patiently wait for Animax to air.
Unless if we could get children TV shows to broadcast anime like Flint the Time Detective (that show was the beesknees :D)

Not a hope of getting animax here. If it was going to launch it would have 2-3 years ago when they were busy launching all over the rest of Europe.

And from watching animax in other countries I'd put money on the people who moaned about AnimeCentral's format making the same moans about animax's as its pretty much the same.

The joke is Cuba has animax broadcast to them. WTH!?!! they should be rolling my cigars not pissing about waiting for Shugo Chara! to air D:<

it's funny you say that cause I noticed that it airs in Canada, plus i noticed some english dubs of both Marimarte and Emma a Victorian romance. Just look on youtube for Animax English dubs, there was a couple when i last looked
As for spanish fansubs, well you've got the majority of south America, part from Brazil and Spain itself

Animax? I though there was to be no uk anime channels due to lack of funding or something like that?
Not lack of money, it's Sony afterall. It's lack of channel space on the Astra array, or Euro birds. Sony want not one, but three channels, for the UK. Not available unless someone sells their slots to them. Until that happens we will be in the dark for Animax.

The 'lack of Sky channels' is utter bunk. New channels are coming along all the time. If sony wanted they would launch. CBS launched 4 channels on Sky just at the end of 2009. There have been probably 2 dozen channels, if not more, added to the EPG since Animax said they were looking for a slot. The fact we've not heard anything since 2007 says a lot.

Animax Canada is a service on mobile phones, same as Australia.

Mo3ooo, half a million?

Well seeing as Animax, and the other two, radiate to Europe from the UK, why would they not want to do the same here if they could?

Probably because they are smart enough to realise the average anime 'fan' in the UK is a whiney fansub watcher who doesn't want to pay or wait for anything? ;)

Back in 2007 they were talking about launching a VOD service 'soon'. Nothing happened. They have launched channels in other countries since but none of the press releases have mentioned the UK again.

I have no doubt that they watched the downfall of TAN:UK and AC and thought better of it. But the fact animax have very little involvement in native English speaking countries is the biggest indicator to me.

Costs too high, potential revenue too low.

Which leads to the eternal cycle,
Costs are too high, because no one buys, because costs are too high.
UK anime fans are kinship to the Sonic fandom.
We are trapped in the Cycle.

I watch fansubs because a local alternative is not available. I'm sorry I'm not playing the good Samaritan, but if [company] don't want to give me the chance to show that we want [show] then unfortunately I'm out of options that don't involve me tearing myself a new exit wound.

And I'm not waiting for the impossible. I was done with that **** the moment S-E didn't make good on RE: Chain of Memories.
