The man behind Robotech passed away on Saturday of a heart attack.

Terribly sad news. His dubs of Akira, Fist of the North Star, and 3x3 Eyes were some of my earliest experiences with anime.

Robotech was a major cornerstone of my early anime life due to its quality and having recently rewatched it the high regard I held it in was certainly well deserved.

Quite shocking as he'd been more active in the industry again recently. I didn't like some of his work myself, but an awful lot of fans were born out of what he did. Sad to lose an important pioneer of western anime like this
