Soooo.... a new chapter is out, and reading it give me a strange sense of deja vu, not sure why but looks like we can look forward to a few weeks of Ichigo's fight with Ulquirra (i can never spell that name right >_<

Well this week was a complete waste of time. :(

Next week pre fight build up, then another 6-10 issues before a conclusion :(

Honestly, i wasn't too bothered by this chapter this time, i didn't think it was the worst, by far. Ok i called it earlier on in the thread but still. I'm hoping at least some good battles are set up, bar ichigo's one.

I wonder what Uryu is up to during this time though? Though the Ichigo battle could be good if its done right but i've got a feeling that something meh worthy will resolve it

Let's get this up and running again.

Up to date discussion as it's released in Japan.
I'll post more when i'm not on limited time during my lunch break at work.

I love Bleach but it's hit and miss, but recently it's definitely hotting up. Anyone want to start a count for how many arms have been chopped off? Kubo loves arms

I feel with each chapter I read, the angrier at Kubo I seem to get
Ditto - reading / watching Bleach has been frustrated for a while. There is a maximum of two sword swings per chapter in the last six months, which is really annoying... :S

I'm not really one to fule the Bleach-hate fire, but this is one of the funniest tthings I've seen n awhile X]

Thing is, half of that is so subjective as to be rendered nonsense, and the other half is stuff that happens in 99% of shounen fighting series - some of it probably at the request of the publisher (spot a series that doesn't start to feature a lot of a character who is suddenly high in the poularity polls and then get back to me). 20 year olds moaning about series designed to entertain 12 year olds got boring quite some time ago.

If anyone is actually going to discuss the series in here, please post which chapter you're talking about at the start of the post, as I'm usually a chapter behind for a few days at least.

I weren't making any sort of point with that you know, I just found it funny and it so happens to be relivant to the thread. Although to be fair, Kubo does take everything a bit too far. He draws set panels out so that an event/action can take multiple pages to come out, makes an arc up as he goes along (He's admitted this in an interview) and drives the story almost entirely on character popularity and Cliche's

That's exactly what 99% of shounen series do.

Classic literature = Shakespeare, Dostoevsky

Stupid **** you're supposed to enjoy and not worry about = shounen fighting series.

Naw, like I said at the beginning, Kubo takes it too far. In most Shonen series, were given reasons why characters live impossible situations, maybe a few cliché lines stuff like that

In Bleach, everyone on a top 15 character poll from Hitsugaya down to Hisagi has Plot-armour.

A Bleach movie was made based around the series most popular character

It's making me laugh too much that you somehow think this is unique to Bleach, so I can't possibly respond reasonably.

Doesn't mean you can't laugh at their shortcomings though, right?
Doesn't mean you can't, does mean you look a bit weird for doing it.

Nah, I don't think so. We're British, we laugh at the shortcomings of everything, it's not like we mean anything by it. Everything has it's flaws, and if they can be made the subject of amusement that's not complaining, that's just 'avin' a larf!

You can pick out its shortcomings as kids entertainment, but that's not what people do. "Stating the obvious" about how kids series are devised is just being boring, imo.

I know it's typical of most Shonen manga, but like I said, for the 3rd time Kubo takes it too far ¬¬
And that's so subjective as to be total nonsense. How many percentage points less far would have have to take it for it to be okay? Where is "the line"?

Btw, spoilers for the end of the whole series:

Ichigo wins.

Hope that isn't one cliche too many for you.

I'm guessing you're not a fan of observational comedy then?

There are those obsessed with Star Wars, a franchise based on kids films, and many of them are quite old. There's the argument that if its for kids, it doesn't have to be good but then what's the difference between an episode of Spongebob Squarepants and Batman: The Animated Series? You can still have intelligent plot and characters, even if its for kids or teenagers. Most things are.

Your particularly arguing about shonen stories, and while there are tropes there's also a distance between Bleach, One Piece and Fullmetal Alchemist when they are all technically targeted at the same audience. You can have good and bad stuff, and sometimes being a nitpick is what makes the good stuff just that much better.
