Bleach after the Rescue arc

I've enjoyed Bleach as an anime so far and am looking forward to seeing the rescue arc once it comes out as a boxset.

However, I've heard pretty negative comments about it after series 3. Is that mainly because of the filler arcs? Is it still worth checking out? How's the adaptation of some of the future manga arcs?

Anyway, let me know everyone.

I haven't watched the fillers, but fillers by SP are never good.

My main problem with Bleach when it restarted after the fillers was that the art and animation quality decreased a lot. Aside from in two top draw fight episodes, it looked fairly horrible compared to how it looked before the fillers. You'd cry if you compared the early episodes to some of the 100+ episodes.

There were other problems, too. One being spit replacing the huge amount of blood that was once included because of Bleach changing channels. Another being the quality of the story dropping as it went on. Put simply, aside from in a few instances, the overall quality of the anime after the SS arc isn't very high.

I plan to collect the SS arc in full and then forget about Bleach. Just like I plan to collect 1-135 of Naruto and forget about that.

You should avoid filler altogether IMO. Though as far as filler goes, Bleach filler is supposedly tolerable. But considering how awesome the following arc is, the Arrancar arc, I'd say you'd be putting a good thing on hold for something as pointless as the Bount arc (filler).

The Soul Society Arc finishes at episode 91 and goes back on track again at episode 110. bear with the first few episodes, it's just characters adjusting to what happened during the Soul Society arc.

Basically, Soul Society is definately one of the better arcs in Bleach, but there's a lot more to come with the introduction of newer, more kickass, characters.

Go watch Bleach!

Without being as... brutally honest as possible. It basically becomes DBZ but even more uninteresting and repetative, instead of fighting a new threat, it's the same rescue arc, excluding the filler, which opinions are often between "decent" to "horrible" I'd say end it at Soul Society myself, it's just not worth it for the decent character designs alone. This is speaking on content in the manga alone, the anime doesn't fair much better. Although it depends on how you define "enjoyed Bleach" if you want to expect more new, fresh and interesting ideas, look else where, but if you same all the same stuff again for the sake of entertainment. Go for it.

Filler arcs offer something "refreshing" but as said the fans opinions on it are very divided.

I plan to give up after season 3 as well, and that's as a fan of Bleach. The quality in terms of both story and animation drop off considerably.

I've tried to enjoy the later stuff that gets back on track, but the Arrancarr stuff is drawn out to long, and then interrupted by annoying filler.

The first thing you must understand if you want to keep on watching is that Bleach is a long running anime (225 anime episodes and counting) of which there are very few now in japan, the other two big series being One Piece and Naruto. When a series runs as long as Bleach the chances are it will outpace it's source material ie. the manga .This is when filler comes in to play.
So far there have been two major fiiler arcs in the Bleach anime, the first one is the Bount arc which takes place between the Soul society arc and the Arrancar arc.The second filler takes place between the Hueco Mundo arc and concerns a new captain joining squad three.
Of these two filler arcs ,the Bount arc in my opinion is the better one. While filler as a rule is not meant to advance the overall story or characters in the series that does not mean you can't enjoy them as stand alone stories in their own right.
Some people in this thread have mentioned that the overall quality of the latter episodes has declined since I don't know how they viewed these episodes,I can only speak for myself.I have watched all 225 episodes at least twice ,sometimes four or five times all on my high-end dell pc from streaming fansub websites and I can tell you that you truly cannot make a comparision between watching an episode on a small screen on a pc from a fansub website(if you try to expand the picture to cover the whole screen it usually degrades) and watching the properly made dvd on a full screen tv.
As for the big question?,should you keep watching?.Well as for that I can only say this .First ,why did you start to watch Bleach in the first place ?,answer that and you're well on your way to deciding to continue to watch it.Secondly ,having watched all the episodes, movies and ova's and read the manga,I can say this their is more good than bad in the Bleach universe but if you do decide to keep watching you are surely in for the long haul as at the rate both the manga and anime are progressing Bleach will most likely past the 400 episode mark.
Just so you know,I will be watching Bleach till the end because when you invested this much time and intrest in a show ,to stop watching before the end really does mean you've wasted all that time and effort for nothing without seeing how it finally plays out.

Yeah, I think I'll be leaving it after the 3rd series boxset.
I've enjoyed it, but I've enjoyed the manga more.

And people are saying the animation gets WORSE?
That's hard to imagine at some points and I don't really want to try.

just wait 20 years

before you know it, there'll be Bleach Kai ;)

Maybe ,maybe not the only who knows when Bleach will end is the man himself Tite Kubo.I'm pretty sure he has the ending mapped out ,When we get there is up to him.I do know this,I've seen better anime than Bleach but also a lot worse anime than Bleach.
As for giving up after watching a few series and then stopping is like walking out of a cinema after 20 minutes or reading a book only half way through, you will never know whether or not it was really good or bad because you didn't see it through to the end.

Dropping it after the 3rd season and skipping the fillers doesn't mean ya can't start again after the filler DVDs have finished and its back on plot.

Though like I said, even once it gets back on track, the story is really dragged out, so I'll have to think about it.

Why? Because both Bleach and Naruto have similar failings. They both peak at a certain point and both fall from grace. The stories lose any meaning they once had and just start to drag on endlessly, with a 'boss' fight always around the corner. The failing of all lengthy stories is that, at some point, they lose the purpose they once had.

I've always liked Naruto more than Bleach. SP always put more efort into Bleach before the fillers, being consistent with the art and not always just having one shade of colour. But I simply always felt more of a connection with the Naruto world and characters. That's why I'll more than likely never buying any of Bleach box sets after the third, despite the start of the Arrancar arc has a couple of great fight episodes.

With Naruto I'm pretty sure I'll never both with any of the other box sets after the 10th R1 set. It'll be tempting to buy the first Shippuuden set because of the first 10 minutes and the first few episodes not being so bad, but I most likely won't because Shippuuden doesn't deserve any money.

Hmm, well more than likely, I'll probably see the Bount arc through and get to the Arrancar arc. Urzu Seven makes a good case for Bleach but the majority think otherwise.

It's a hard one to call, I gotta say I do have or did have a soft spot for animes like DBZ & Fist of the north star where several battles down the line lead to the bad ass boss man type character. However I never got to the end of either one.

I guess for now I'll remain loyal to Bleach since I'm enjoying it but if it does fall off that badly or if I'm not enjoying it after the Arrancar arc then I'll have to re-think my loyalties.

My problem is that I'm not a big fan of watching anime in front of a computer, I'd much rather sit down and watch it on DVD so there's no chance that I'll watch any future episodes over the net. Because of that and how slow the boxset releases are, I'll probably be asking the same question in two years time.

I've dropped Bleach now (after s3 too). I read up to this point in the manga and even though my husband continued to buy it, I felt as though it was "done" in my mind and couldn't be bothered to read farther. That the anime switches to filler, the plot of some of which I've seen in one of the games I have, doesn't help. Like many people I find a lot of the main characters pretty uninteresting in Bleach, unfortunately. If it got a Soul Society spin off, then maybe :)

As a test maybe you could grab the first movie. I watched that and it reinforced my idea that Bleach filler wasn't something I was interested in so I will leave the series where I am and come back only if I hear it becomes truly, truly amazing later on one day. If you love the movie, maybe you should try out the next set to see how you go.

Strangely despite wanting to murder the main character 99% of the time and thinking the series is pretty mediocre, I find Naruto filler a lot less annoying. Though I haven't waded through it all yet. I may yet break. Undecided on whether or not I'll bother picking up Shippuuden down the line; certainly not until it's out in boxes at the very least.

Whenever I watch filler, I have such a heavy nagging in the back of my mind saying its pointless; It's a waste of time; Just skip ahead; I can't focus on it, even though I know the main character won't die in a non-filler arc, I feel for the character much more than I do in a filler arc.

Bleach, specifically, gets awful afterwards the first (or second?) rather brilliant arc. I finally decided to give up after the filler wasn't even linked into the main story. I could stand cake-making episodes, but whenever a show just says "Hey, Ignore this situation! This is the new situation" - I give up. Like, Aion, though, always have been more forgiving towards Naruto than I have Bleach.

I'm just confused... Is there some sort of problem with that, unellmay? Oh randomly, it reminds me when I commented on the latest opening of Bleach and said that it was the worse opening and the animation impossibily got worse than it should have. Fantards didn't like it.

I agree with everyone that Bleach was only great up to the Soul Society Arc. Sadly, I kept watching it until 162, after the Grimjaw fight. And whilst there are very few characters I like (Grimjaw, Ulliquora), it was just abhorently bad. I got to say, but why the sudden shoehorn of Spanish words? Why making Ichigo more special than he should (Yes, a human becoming a Shinigami should've been enough, but now they making him have Hollow Powers, jesus?)

I'm just going to touch up to SS and leave it. Other than that, a mediocre series that I'm ashamed that I loved it around last year/year before.

There's a simple image that can explain how I used to love Bleach and what it was, and how that's changed into what it became.

I wish this wasn't the case, I loved Bleach back in the day...

What's bugging me about Bleach these days is that the second box set refuses to drop to £15ish. Stores have seemingly stopped wanting to give away Manga DVDs now more and more people are buying their releases. I know I'm being cheap - I even like the thinpack Bleach box sets - but paying any more isn't very tempting when Bleach isn't top of my list to buy.

If the second box set wait is anything to go on, the third box set will take awhile to drop in price...
