Big Brother at London Expo

I just read the article.

Bleh. It's just an article in a crappy tabloid rag, as far as I'm concerned. And I say that as somebody who not only owns a prodigous amount of anime, but also does a bit of work in comics.

What I DO find a little annoying is the labelling of fans of either art form as geeks / oddballs / nuts. That sort of thing only panders to ignorant preconceptions that have been around for donkey's years.

Good ol' tabloids - doing their bit to better society, all in the name of turning a profit.

The laissez faire approach of organizers is what is bothering me the most. I've never heard about the Daily Star before, but if I were them, I'd expect no less in that paper, so why allowing them to come over?

pssh, Channel 5 were better in the days when they at least used to show some soft core porn on Friday nights. Oh yeah I remember those good ol days from my youth well. But they don't even do that anymore.. what good are they then.

Um just joking I never really watched that stuff....heh....heh... yeah.. not me.

Yes It was I

It was me Sean Alpha blogger who contacted chaos about this terrible act . I wasnt expecting a lawsuit to come from this but to shed some light on the matter because not only was a stupid act by mike towers the owner of these events but alot of stupid comments and suggestions were made on facebook saying protesting against these events which is also stupid . We have to as a sub culture seem more mature and more evloved than the perpetrators of these acts make us as.

Best knock that tone on the head son, its not worth the hassle to reply properly but saying a group are racist when you have no background knowledge is not the wisest of moves.

Anyway, typical of a **** channel getting the chance to shed some positive light on the anime industry and its fans and as anyone here would have predicted, it went wrong.

Channel 4 and 5 are both in the same league as each other, they'll say or do anything to turn heads. Slander is second nature (they used to show porn on channel 4. WHY? do i really want to see it? not when i want to watch a film no) Big brother is a prime example of how desperate the channels are. Lets get a bunch of the lands weirdest people and throw them into a house and see where it goes... they probably shortlisted anyone with a disability towards the end simply for the viewing ratings to go up when a bald midget who was in austin powers gets drunk and tried to drive his scooter into the doors.

Both channel 4 and 5 are Trash tv that should be taken off the airwaves. and for a newspaper to make comments on a culture it knows nothing about is typical too, stereotypical ********.

But then again, what do you expect in todays world? And people wonder why other people who like things that are in a select "niche" keep it quiet. So that others don't ridicule them.

No different to a kid who likes rock music (for example) surrounded by a schoolfull of youths the like listening to ghetto music.... finding out the one kid likes rock and then openly pointing and laughing and bullying him. Its seriously not needed, playground skirmish in a land where adults are supposed to know better than to act like children. But then again.... thats the way things are going in the world.

WHOA, WHOA, WHOA.

Channel 4? Trash TV? Abso-freaking-loutely not. With 10 o'clock live, Peep Show and a bunch of other shows, it's easily the best out of the main 5 channels.
 
Channel 5 show Disney films too! Their main channel might not be the best around, but all three of their network's offer a decent lineup actually. ITV is the one that could do with going.

(You're also partially paying for C4 with your TV License).

Don't pretend that you know me for a second. I'm not a member of the EDL but i'm not going to sit back and let someone say they are racist. You come to luton for a few months and tell me nothings wrong. Very nice being a brummie with no problems because nothing happens in yam-land, but come to a place where death is common practice and most areas aren't safe... and you'll probably asses if things across here have become a problem. (where did that terrorist in sweden or switz the other month come from? oh yeah... luton)

As for the youtube link, at work so YT doesn't work.

Channel 4 and 5 are balls, end of. Film 4 is good because they have some decent anime on there at times but apart from that i hardly ever watch tv these days anyway. (BGT and celebrity juice, are good but also watch emmerdale, enders and corrie are always on when eating dinner... not my choice but i've been made to watch em whilst eating dinner since i can rememeber)

I'm surprised this story wasn't picked up earlier, there was talk about BB appearing before the expo and then backlash as soon as the article was published. It's doubt any Daily Star readers would be open to any new concepts like cosplaying anyway and probably think anyone that isn't exactly like them is an oddball anyway.
Try not to get into an "are the EDL racist?" discussion. They never go anywhere because there is no real "proof" they are. Admittedly they seems to like shaving their heads, covering their faces, doing Nazi salutes...

I'm trying not to get into a political discussion here but thinking the DE is a good newspaper is laughable. It's one of those newspapers that their readers will take everything they say as true and that is very dangerous, especially with their "Climate Conspiracy" agenda.

I'm sorry but anyone who calls himself or his group(gang more like) the England Defense league is a twit, end of really. Really I'm quite surprised theres any defense of this "defense league" on this site. ohh my word play really isn't that good is it :cry:


Back on subject and to be honest I just can't take this at all seriously, I mean yeah it is bloody awful journalism no doubt, but then this is channel 5 and the daily star, their clearly two of the most lowly forms of media we have in this country. I think even being offended by this type of trash is giving it more credit and acknowledgment then it probably even deserves. I mean I know its not nice having anime fans represented poorly in mainstream media, but really how may people other than us is actually going to see or pay attention to this crap.

Maybe if the Pope came out and declared all anime fans intrinsically evil oddballs, then maybe.... nah who am I kidding, even then I could only laugh. I just can't get angry over such stupidness.
