Death Scythe
Popularly translated as Club-to-death (or Beating)&nbsp;Angel Dokuro-chan, the fan-favourite 'slapstick' comedy&nbsp;"Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan"&nbsp;has been licensed for release in North America by Media Blasters, as just announced by Media Blasters CEO John Sirabella via <a href="http://www.animeondvd.com/aodvb/showthread.php?t=82740">the AnimeOnDVD forums</a>:

"well since we signed it... i guess announcing dokuro-chan would be something to make you guys happy??? ok so there is an annoucement..."

Club-to-death Angel Dokuro-chan follows the story&nbsp;about a boy named Sakura -&nbsp;a pervert to be,&nbsp;and how he finds himself caught up&nbsp;with&nbsp;an angel from the future - Dokuro - who wields the spiked&nbsp;club "Excaliborg".&nbsp; Sakura faces the daily tasks and problems of any normal school boy, except Dokuro has an ulterior motive to try and change his ways before it is too late.&nbsp; 'Slapstick' doesn't quite cut it for a genre defining word that fits this series, taking a description a little further - Club-to-death Angel Dokuro-chan could be described as <strong>'consecutive violent retribution for accidental infringement'</strong>, but not even that quite covers it.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Yeah this has to be the best day ever.

I'm ecstatic.

Also for anyone interested: Seirei no Moribito (Guardian of the Sacred Spirit) DVDs will be out starting September (US release of course)

AND the bad news is that it looks like the Geneon deal is not-doing at the moment, though that's unconfirmed.

Tis good news indeed, the series was pretty darn funny to watch, it'll be great to get the DVD's. Seirei no Moribito as well, September release is great, another one i'm looking forward to getting the DVD's off, probably one of the best series of last year in my opinion.

oh good god

well if parents ever did want an anime to moan about they've got it

nothing makes a target like violent beating and a main char who's soul objective is to become a paedophile

And I bet you eveything they chose this piece of **** over something more worthy of my buying it, like GaoGaiGar Final.

Godamn media blasters, stop it with the Moe already.

And I came up with a theory (because I was forced to watch this crap at my anime club) that Sakura (what kinda twat names thier son Sakura?) only becomes a Pedo thanks to Dokro's ever villigant drilling home of the message "See tits get killed".

When the hell are we geting the Genshiken OVAs, MB?!

So cool I can't wait

bet you've been waiting for this haven't you melonpan :D

My initial reaction is in the AoD forums. Took my several minutes to get out of the initial shock. I absolutely had to make a super-special news post for this as soon as I saw it.

And for anyone who didn't realise, the title of the news post is a quote from the Excalibur movie (obviously Excaliborg is not in that movie...)

I think you're missing the main point here, that there's absolutely no way you can ever hope to enjoy Dokuro-chan if you are going to take it seriously. I didn't even think it were possible to take it seriously.

Not that you deserve the information after the inflammatory remarks about my beloved Dokuro-chan, but John Sirabella said they're pushing Guardian of the Sacred Spirit to the top of their release schedule (which makes absolute sense), and because of that both Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny, and Genshiken 2 have been pushed back. I'd expect them by the end of the year though.

They have already released the first episode of the Genshiken OVA on volume one of Kujibiki Unbalance TV. As far as I am aware that will be the only way you will get a hold of it. At the very least the OVA will not be released as a standalone until after the 3rd and final volume of Kujibiki Unbalance is released. Likewise Genshiken series 2 will not be released until after that point too.

got any idea whether its just subbed, or dubbed?
At a guess I would reckon this will be a sub-only affair given that there is no proven fanbase (fansub watchers don't generally count on that score).

I wouldn't be so sure.

John Sirabella said he specifically did the sub-only for yoai/yuri titles, which is exactly what's happened so far ---> Simoun, Strawberry Panic, whatever else.

Dokuro-chan doesn't fit into that category so I'd actualy expect a dub. Tweeny Witches had a dub and I'd expect them both to have the same magnitude of appeal, maybe Dokuro more so, you've either got people who can't stand it, people who are mad about it, or people who haven't seen it, but it most certainly has a huge fan base so I'd expect it to do reletively well, maybe near Shana popularity levels (although maybe that's going too far).

EDIT: Plus the fact that I'd imagine it'd be incredible cheap to dub, seeing as both seasons could easily fit onto a single DVD, though most likely if he has the second season it'll be two volumes. Damn do I want an artbox for this title - I wish I had bought the Japanese releases when they were available.

I hate moe and am definitely buying this. It's not a serious show at all, it's an absurd comedy. I don't personally care whether it's dubbed or not but I think it has a reasonable chance to be - it's not a long show and might appeal to quite a few people with its cute designs and twisted humour.
