BEEZ: Hopeful Revealing 2 New Licenses in the Near Future!

Hope they actually succeeded in getting Turn A, I don't really think it's going to happen, it's just way too niche but it would be amazing.

Indeed, and funnily enough I was about to burn the fansub episodes onto discs just as the US announcement was made, so that's saved me lots of time. I'm going to wait now to see in the UK release is happening, and if I get 100% confirmation its not, then I'll order the US release. Either way never in a million years did I think this was going to get a release anywhere outside of Japan.

I'd be surprised if Turn A was announced, simply because it seems like only five minutes ago that it was announced for the US. But, let's never rule out minor miracles, eh?

Oh, and, by the way - your user name would be a Transformers reference, would it? I only just made the connection in my mind (and it's a very real one!)

Yup, it's the shorter version of Fortress Maximus, I've been using it since I started posting on the internet some nine years ago.

I have a rare talent for sniffing these things out.

Check out how your namesake fares in 'Last Stand Of The Wreckers'.

Yikes!

Okay - back on topic now...

ur forgetting, SW has got a uk release on crunchy, they have to abide by the laws too, so essentially it's already sorted
Would you really buy a censored DVD release though? I mean, I'd be surprised if it was "technically" a problem to release the DVDs like they did in the US, but at the same time if I was running a company I know I would have to think twice about the inevitable bad press you would get if some red top decided it didn't have anything else to report on that day.

God i'm way behind on the TF comics, last one i read was the 2nd Spotlight collections and Megatron Origins. Oh and Grand Maximus is better then Fortress ;) (get this reference and i'll give you a cookie)

ahem...On topic, i hope its finalisation about Turn A Gundam and/or ZZ Gundam/Victory Gundam. Those shows need a chance to shine in the west.

Its not a release as such so they don't have to worry about any UK laws. They are simply streaming it from outside the UK and it happens that we can view it.

Plus £10 says the version of SW on Crunchy has been tweaked, edited or covered in magic steam like some of their other series.

somehow I don't imagine the people who take tabloids to heart, are the kind of people who would watch anime anyway.
Bad press is still better than no press surely, I mean its what content is there in SW that you could honestly boycott.
Underage nipples that are blatantly only there for the sake of being there.

They were used in Season 1, too - on the broadcast version. If they released the second season censored... let's just say I don't think that would go down well, either.

There's one noticable censor in the entire first season for the DVD version. They'll only censor genitals not other nudity.
All the promo art for Season 2 lacks the censor that's on the TV version so far.
Still think all the groping etc. would be the problem (that's what got Code Geass R2 cut) especially as it's normally the youngest character doing it.

Seeing as Mahoromatic (a series full of "strong sexualized nudity" involving young looking characters) was passed uncut, I don't see there being a particular problem with Strike Witches.

Oh, wait, the totally random Geass edit. In light of that, who knows? It seems unlikely that a UK distributor would take the risk of submitting SW.

Not as obscure as it used to be, the dvd set is pretty cheap now!
Should be getting LSotW TPB soon, but I dont want to drag this off topic.

Moar Gundam plz Beez! :D

True, but it managed to get released in America no problem so I assume it would be fine.
So did Code Geass, and the UK cut was due to groping with clothes on in the presence of an apparent minor - in Strike witches they have naked groping and canonical minors. Luckily in the case of Geass there was a pre-existing edit for US TV they could use, if the BBFC requested cuts to SW then not only would they not be able to share authoring costs with other countries they would have also to pay for the edits themselves unless they used the version FUNimation uses for streaming, assuming DVD-quality masters of that exist.

The only thing I would hope along those lines is that the BBFC "unknowingly" over-reacted "just in case" with that Geass edit, and that they now somehow understand the new laws in a different, less insane way.
