Artwork?

You should make a character up. Of course if you do that you'll have to make up a name, a story and their personality. That'll be pretty fun but would take a while. I might do this actually, I have some time on my hands at the moment. ^_^

I'm actually quite fond of doing that recently. I keep drawing random people at the moment and then naming them. One of them is called Zuki, and i was really proud of her. ^_^ But i think that picture is under my bed or something. I'd like to draw someone in a traditional kimono and would have cool hair etc. But they always turn out strange. My drawings are very simple.

hi liz ^_^ had to check this board out...so many great drawings o.o

there's no point in taking art for GCSE - it isn't that great, they won't let us draw anime/manga-style anyway *sniff*

My drawing style is pretty much always anime/manga style so at school they just had do deal with it, but i don't think they really minded that much, after all i did it for As level, you just have to do it to a fairly competent level, and have lots of work backing it up, in the end it's about your sketchbook as a whole.
I know what you mean about having to pay for things though, my school was so cheap, i always thought the reason we had to buy everything was because the money was going towards decking out the head masters office with shag carpet, a hot tub, bar etc....i mean there was certainly nothing going towards anything else in our school. Although i still wouldn't say i ever had to pay that much for everything in Art.

I always invent my own characters, thats all i do when i draw anime, partly because it's difficult copying someone elses style, and also because it's fun :D

yep, art equipment does cost alot o_o we have to buy stuff like canvases, sketchbooks, paintbrushes etc.
Our school is really cheap too and when they're not being cheap, they use the money on pointless things, like floodlights for the outdoor tennis courts - who's going to play tennis in the dark anyway? o_O

Thats got me wanting to create my own character now, If I do i will post it.

Oh hey Guu-chan. Yes, I don't regret not taking art, my sister's wise words directed me away from art, after all the trouble she went through.
Although I do regret taking geography -_-

I loved geography, mainly due to the fact that my teacher was crazy. He'd start talking about something, someone would ask an unrelated question and he'd go off on another topic not related to geography at all

I loved Geography also, although i dropped it for History in year 10. I always did well at it, and we always had the most fun in our lessons, i'm not sure if we ever did work....i always wondered how i managed to do so well

Yeah. I liked geography in year 7-9. So i decided to take it for GCSE. But then i got the most evil teacher on the planet. I can't stick it now! And I'm not very good at it anyway...

lol I gave up geography to do art. Art is ok, but I do regret taking it >_< then again, I wasn't that good at geography either...

I think you are all very talented artists! :D

When I was at school - I was discouraged for doing anything remotely anime/manga styled in art class.
But that didn't stop me from drawing all over my maths book and textbooks during other classes to practice! :) *laughs evily*

Wow i think your work is really great neptune2venus, you have a really good handle on the effects program (what one do you use?), your featured deviation is really nice, i liked the way you did the clothes, especially the socks, and it's good how you've added shine to the hair

Thank you Charter Mage, you really made my day! :D

I use just my plain ol' mouse and opencanvas 3 for the outline and colouring, although I know alot of people use Photoshop to make their pictures look really good. (I don't really know how to use it lol).
Opencanvas is easy to use and I highly recommend it!
Download it from here:

I've looked at your artwork and I really like how you do eyes, it's so much better than what I could do! I'm not very talented on the realistic side of things

Wow , some really fantastic art on your site their neptune2venus , puts my rather limited efforts to shame really ( although no-ones seem due to my lack of a scanner or digi-cam ) .
Judging from your deviantart profile a great taste in anime and movies too. :)

Thats really great thanks, i'd heard of Opencanvas before but i didn't realise it was something that was downloadable. I'd love photoshop but i havn't got a clue where to get it from, plus i've heard it's pretty expensive, i'm not sure if i'd understand how to use it anyway
Thanks for what you said about my work too :D
