AnimeCentral; a new anime TV channel coming to the UK?

It seems to be that this year that anime on UK TV is starting to increase I guess its because its getting more popular but its still not getting played on any well known channels. If Animax or AnimeCentral dont do well then its gonna put of any channel ever showing anime. I think the best thing for now is stuff like Anime Network.

I doubt it will be 24 hours... Unless 24 hours count as 15 hours of Teleshopping and 9 hours of Anime.

Meh, I ain't holding my breath, but if it does happen, It will grab more Anime fans. But otherwise, I'm already saying 'Sayanora' to Anime Central.

I'm actually pleased it's chartshow.tv who is doing this, they seem to have a knack for picking specialist channels.

At one point True Movies was the most watched movie channel comfortably beating Sky Movies it's still competing well. It seems they seem to see some potential in anime. So if this rumour is true, anime is in good hands.

Geting a UK Anime channel is like trying to Capture a Legendry Bird PKMN, it could be so close with tons of Modifyers in your favour, but the bastard will still break out of your fliping Ultra Ball.

Anyone who is going to Amecon and does attend the panel, be sure to let us know what it's about. I will be at Amecon, but not at the panel since it clashes with the Voice Actor Q&A
Planning to be at Amecon, but everything is very last minute, so we'll see. If there can be AUKN spy if needs be.

Well hopefully this comes to some fruition. Hopefully more channels start to look at anime and with dwindling numbers on all digital channels they might need it.

Following up our previous news report on "AnimeCentral", there is mounting information to suggest that yes, this will be the UK's first ever dedicated anime TV channel. The evidence is as follows:

The "AnimeCentral" OFCOM license; which directly links the channel with Chart Show TV

Second, there will be an "AnimeCentral" panel at this weekend's UK anime convention, AmeCon. AmeCon chairman Will Blewitt states that it will be one of the "most interesting" panels at the convention.

Lastly, UK Anime are reporting that in the latest issue of Newtype USA, Johnathon Clements has revealed that "Manga Entertainment are partnering with Chart Show TV for Anime Central in response to (ADV's) The Anime Network".

We await official word on this exciting news.

Well that last piece of news is as good as a fact for the channels existence.
Score! I wonder if we'll only see Manga's titles on it though... Bleach, Naruto, GITS:SAC anyone?!? :D

Screw that, Freeview, not everybody has sky & as of 2008/09 everyone is to be on Freeview as the terrestrial channels will only be shown on Freeview.

My house has sky but the last time I saw it was at the end of the chunin round 2 Exams in Naruto, cause my bros & Dad are Sports mad and will watch Football & Golf all day everyday

I've got the issue of Newtype USA (July2007) in front of me, and this is the exact quote (bolding by me)
Meanwhile, anime sneaks back onto the airwaves with ADV's Anime Network grabing an experimental two-hour sot on Sky Channel 195 (Propeller TV) and Manga Entertainment trying something similar with Chart Show TV.

However, I also received the August 2007 issue of Newtype USA today, and it has a further snippet, that could possibly include a broadcast date.
And to end on a crypric note, Beez's rep chooses this month to drop a hint about yet another broadcast oportunity in the anime world. For August, we are told: "Expect the final volumes of some of our old series such as My-HiME, as well as our latest acquisition, .hack//Roots! Also expect in September a lot of Beez titles to be coming to TV..."

I love you Beez, I love you, Chartshow TV, I love you, Manga....

Okay, Maybe I don't love Manga that much. But this is awesome news.

Hmm, didnt manga recently get bleach for dvd release over here? If so, maybe it'll come on this channel.....oooooo....The whole bleach Wii game being released here and us not having started bleach yet may be on the change....

oh dear oh dear, nothing like scaring off anime fans by using the blue water dub of mai hime XD

they killed a great show

I take it, Blue Water isn't a good dubbing company. I checked AnimeNewsNetwork and it seems they have done about 20 anime's.
