UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Where's that poster who correctly guessed every single flash sale item in the Christmas sale? My wallet needs his powers now more than ever.

Hensuki: Are you willing to fall in love with a pervert, as long as she’s a cutie?

Initially I had assumed it be slim pickings for me in this sale but perusing the full range on the Anime Limited's website has me thinking otherwise.

Kaiji, Iwakakeru, The Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution movies, Chaika the Coffin Princess are all things I'd like to try. I didn't even know that Karakuri Circus had an UK release which is very exciting. The trouble is that I'll have to see if they end up in a flash sale as they've skipped the main event.

There is also Ghost In The Shell: SAC_2045. I’m presently disenfranchised when it comes to Collectors Editions but SAC_2045 feels like something that just won’t get a standard edition. So we’ll see.

Picked up the Patlabor films in the sale, still tempted by Jujutsu Kaisen but I've got to know!
Has AL ever give any kind of explanation as to why their release is the only one in the world (I can find anyway) that has the crazy temu bootleg looking logo instead of the official one?!?!?!

But Anime Limited, sort out your vouchers. Talk about a waste of time. Get a system that can handle BOGOFs and other things in the same order.
If we let people stack discount codes in addition to the 50% discount of a Buy One Get One Free, we'd have to stop doing Buy One Get One Free as it wouldn't be viable. It isn't purely a logistical issue, but also a "it actually costs money to produce and ship products to people" issue, so we won't be offering people 100% discounts on orders just yet...

I’m not asking for stacked discounts. I’m asking for better mathematics. BOGOF separately, discount what is eligible, but in the same order so it isn’t pushed beneath the free shipping threshold. Or stop applying postage to items that only drop below £50 after they are discounted with a voucher. Because then what’s the point of the voucher?

Edit: To expound... In my order I had £55 of Collector's Editions, and 4 items, £40 of BOGOFs.

I expected to pay £20 for the BOGOFS, and £55-10% from the voucher for the Collectors, a saving of £5.50. I expected a final total of £69.50, comfortably over the free shipping threshold.

But the voucher wouldn't activate with the BOGOFs in the basket, I had to try separating the order.

What I would have wound up with that way is £20 for the BOGOF with £3.50 shipping in one order. And the most ridiculous thing, £55 of Collector's Editions over the free shipping threshold, with a 10% voucher applied dropping to £49.50, below the free shipping threshold, so I get another £3.50 applied. I'm now having to spend £7 just to save £5.50 using a voucher.

In other words the voucher was useless to me, and I wound up not using it and just placing a single order for £75. That feels like I'm being taunted for being stingy around the £50 pricepoint.

Solution, get a better algorithm to allow separate and multiple discounts in a single order.

Compromise solution, be realistic when it comes to free shipping and voucher activation thresholds. Drop the free shipping threshhold to £45, so that using a voucher at £50 still offers free shipping, or raise the voucher activation to £55.56 so dropping a 10% voucher into the stack doesn't drop it below £50

Actuually, you'll have to adjust it for 15%, Free shipping at £42.50, or Voucher Activation at £58.82 for the subscribers.

  • allow use of multiple discount codes
  • exclude certain items from discount codes (e. g. all BOGOF items won't get discounted by the 10 % or 15 % codes)
...or else, but still viable: Maybe increase the BOGOF items by approx 10 % to cover up the difference. That would be simple at least.

Any other solutions like combining orders afterwords and remove shipping fees would cause more work hours of support staff and thus aren't likely practical.

I remember when Paperchase let you use multiple coupons as it was completely broken. Discount codes that should have only applied to certain items could be used with discount codes that worked with whole orders so you could easily get upwards of 60% off orders if you wanted to

Stacked discount codes on ecommerce are usually completely broken. Personally I'm happy with paying the £3.50 shipping as overall you're saving considerably more. Sets are discounted from say £40 to £15. Thats already a £25 saving. Minus the £3.50 is a saving of £21.50
