UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

AL is bringing Macross Frontier and Macross Delta on home video.

Is AL moving on from Gundam to Macross now that licening Gundam is... well, complicated? Don't me wrong, I like Macross Frontier but it is odd how there has been no new Gundam licenses or announcements for a while now. Also can we get Symphogear next? 🙏
I'm surprised that there has been no announcement for a home release of Seed Freedom yet, Anime Limited had it rated for one over 2 months ago.

Ooh, more Macross to add to the collection, I'm glad to see it (this is from someone who is yet to watch any Macross but I've been wanting to watch it for ages and I like supporting anime like this on home video).

If the Devilman: Crybaby set is the same as what we're going to get then I'm a bit disappointed it's going to be an awkward size similar to that of Blue Giant (but at least with that set it fit the theme). It could just be how the image looks to me and it's actually a standard size but going off of that it looks larger so if so I'll just be going for the standard edition.

Hopefully I'm wrong and / or we are getting a regular sized CE.
I own the Japanese release of Devilman: Crybaby and the upcoming Anime Limited set looks to be mirroring it. I can assure you it’s likely going to be an oversized box set.

(Insert unhinged laughter here) How does this happen twice in one week? I ordered the US release of The Executioner and Her Way of Life last month after waiting two years, then a UK version is announced this week. I spent about £140 on the JP release of Macross Delta last month after waiting three years since Nozomi's vapourware announcement, then a UK version is announced this week. 🤣 🤣 🤣 I must be turning into the official sacrificial lamb for UK anime releases.

Regardless, the Macross Frontier announcement is easily the most exciting news I've seen from Anime Limited since Godzilla Minus One. Presumably it will be 2027 or later though, considering that they stated 2026 for Delta.

I really do hope we hear something soon. I joked a few years back about not wanting to see Macross prioritised over Gundam, but as things stand...

Granted it could be that Bigwest are easier to work with and with Nozomi gone it's probably a boon to be the company handling Macross. But here we are, 10 years since AL announced they were doing Gundam and all we have is increasingly hollow promises that "more is coming". 10 years, guys. None of us are getting any younger.

I'm thinking slightly more optimistic for Frontier that it will be this year. "Coming soon" was the tagline for Frontier while Delta was 2026.

July Newswire is up.

anime-on-line new preorders include (standard edition) The Colors Within blu-ray and dvd
And there's a third one I ordered last month!

While I hope you're right, media companies have an extremely loose definition of what soon means. Movies are routinely referred to as coming soon when they're a year or two away. AL themselves often use the phrase "the wait is over" to mean "we're now taking pre-orders for something that's due out in six months".

The wait for the beginning of the waiting is now over.

Found a copy of Eureka Seven Hi Evolution 3: Eureka at CeX. Can't be that much longer to go now, although how it's ended up there is anyone's guess. Full English on the back with "English and Japanese Dub" but I'm weary of spoilers and I'm not sure how to upload spoiler-ed images 😆

That seems to say Hi Evolution 1. Just the standard edition of the first one, not no.3
Or am I misinterpreting?
