UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Man, if anime limited released elfen lied on bd, fixed the audio issues with the us release, and gave it a collectors treatment, that'd be the dream

Anime 101 already have the UK rights for that and released it on dvd a few years ago.

This may have already been answered, but what happened to your guys release of Nerima Daikon Brothers, haven't heard anything about it since spring last year when it was due to be released. I would understand if it was an ultimate edition waiting for approval but surely an older title such as this that's only coming out on dvd shouldn't face any problems right?

Hey :)

I got an email off Amazon last week saying that they've now cancelled my Durarara!!! dvd preorder I placed almost a year ago as they provider can't get any stock in. I bagged that preorder for around £30 :(

Do you have any update on Durarara!!! please and will you be able to keep it around the price it initially was back then or...??

I asked about it a few pages back Danielle, it's still going to be released :D

I'm the same though, I'd got it on pre-order for a good price, annoyed they cancelled my order.

REPLACEMENT UPDATES
What do you mean by Patema Inverted? I know the issue with Durarara and Cowboy Bebop which I got my replacements (thank you) and GL with its case. But what was the issue with Patema Inverted?.

As far as I know the plastic for some peoples digipaks was shattered in transit.

Hey Andrew, quick question regarding the upcoming Wings of Honneamise release. I recall it mentioned elsewhere that the movie's being released unedited, despite the general unpopularity of a particular scene with many fans. Have you any plans of using the BD/dvd scene fast-forwarding layout to isolate that part in order to make it easily skippable? I'd personally rather be able to avoid it without passing over other chunks of the film & having to backtrack. Thanks.

I guess it would be a good idea to have two versions of the film available (like a Theatrical and Director's Cut in many live action film releases) so for this it would be - Original Japanese Version and Manga Entertainment Version. I wonder if Andrew would be allowed to do it though.

If I'm remembering correctly the Manga Entertainment podcast during Scotland Loves Anime that Andrew & Jeremy were on, I don't believe that would be possible. Even if permission was granted, you'd likely have to create two separate disks for each, or choose one or the other. Even with the general unpopularity of the assault scene, there would almost certainly be people upset by the censored nature of an edited version. It's a no-win situation.

Ideally, I'd love if it was possible to somehow create two different on-disk links that patch to the same video file, but one being programmed to skip over the scene. Of course, knowing next to nothing about how blu-rays are created, I have no idea if that's possible to do, & if it is, how difficult it would be to create. And that hypothetical situation doesn't even cover permission. That's why I think the easiest, most convenient situation would be to make a scene skip encompassing that part, with maybe a mention in the cliff-notes or pre-release promotion on the timestamp so people can keep an eye out when watching.

You wouldn't need two separate discs. Just use seamless branching, they do it on Hollywood discs that have a theatrical and directors cut on the same disc.

Seamless branching is common on Blu-rays, with extended and theatrical versions of several titles on one disc. Of course it's a pain to encode. My old Blu-ray player used to crash when I watched the extended version of the X-Files movies and tried navigating in the films.

Ah, ok. That's what I was trying to get at in my second paragraph. I don't recall personally coming across it in any films, so had no idea if it was even possible. Thanks.

I understand why people would want to skip a certain scene in The Wings of Honneamise, but considering the movie's themes, it's rather poignant.

Looks fantastic (as expected), the colour scheme of Blood Lad (with the black, yellow and neon pink) has always been something I've thought looked great and is why I'm blind buying this knowing nothing about the show!

Did the team that did the artwork for the Blood Lad anime do the artwork for Danganronpa 1+2 too (PS Vita game) - the artwork looks incredibly similar, especially with the blood being pink.
