Packaging looks great but I don't think the show is for me.
Also, was any reason ever given for the lack of song subtitles in Space Dandy? Will it be rectified for the second series? This is one of the reasons I'm leaning towards the Funimation release.

Not got the US release but going on some unboxing videos the US release has 1-5 on disc one and 6-10 + OVA on disc 2.
Viz seem to use 2xBD50s for their releases regardless of whether that space is required or not. Accel World is their only release which required two as each episode had dual 24bit PCM tracks and a high video bitrate, and then there's titles like Lagrange which use something like 27gb of each disc. Waste of money.anime_andrew said:Not sure off top of head but pretty sure still 2 x BD50s for a reason I forget given I'm jetlagged and on way to next destination right now! That would match for the dvd anyway, I'm not so sure for BD.

Seeing as Justin did both Accel World and Blood Lad for Viz (and a great job on the former), I'm kind of tempted to get that since Accel World had a quality downgrade (Audio and Video wise) when it came to the UK/AUS release.

Speaking of classic anime films, Section 23 has just announced that they're releasing the first Patlabor film on Blu-ray. I'd personally love for AL to release that (& the second movie), but I'm guessing Manga Ent. probably still have the rights. I mean they did produce the (excellent) dub & vaguely mentioned being interested in releasing them if they believed they would be financially viable. As the public face of the company have pretty much been stripped away, who knows what the situation is with it now. It just sounds more like the kind of product that would fit in with AL's catalogue, even if there's probably plenty of Bandai premium sets still around. Either way, as long as the original dub on the disk, I'm a confirmed buyer. Anyone know what the current licensing rights are over here? Is it still with manga?
Just Passing Through said:The last company to have the Patlabor rights in the UK was Beez. I guess they're floating in limbo now... or have been bought by someone? I wouldn't mind a UK re-author for those. Those movies deserve better than Sentai's big yellow subs, but I think one UK collector's edition of them was enough. Actually, just sell the movie Blu-ray discs for £20 a pop in a paper sleeve, and I'll swap out the DVDs and put them in my Beez Collector's Edition packaging!
