Re: Tokyo Ghoul

I'm not sure what the plan is for the subs of Tokyo Ghoul, but I've been watching on Netflix and there are quite a few minor spelling grammar mistakes throughout the episodes (e.g. "you're were"), and also a couple of episodes where the timing goes wonky. In either episode 6 or 7, I forget which one, they are really bad, and in a few of the others (9 is one of them) at different times they go slightly out of sync with the dialogue and then go back in time.

I assume they'll be looked at anyway, if you're even going to use the same subs for home video, but I just wanted to mention it since the release is a long way off and I intend to buy the BD :)

Have no fear, we're already on the case with this. But thanks for flagging either way, we really appreciate it :)

Not sure if you have just updated your website or it was always like that but browsing your catalogue is pretty cluncky. Having to move down all the time and click more collections, you need title series headers at the top that I can click to jump down to that specific section. You should address this now as the issue will only get worse with time as you add more titles and the website becomes more and more user unfriendly.

Fear not, a drop-down for it will come along shortly :)! Also yes - updated site alongside our blog - which is now found at http://blog.alltheanime.com - feedback welcomed!

I'm liking the new site, it's very clean looking.

Also I see the main page on the site has posted the new license now. As I said in the thread yesterday, I've never heard of Miss Hokusai, but am interested in seeing it. Must be good if you guys have picked it up!

Oh my gosh, Tokyo Ghoul Season One in October?! Might seal the deal in me training 2 hours down to London for the Con! hehe :D

Excellent news about Escaflowne and merch would be ace, even if it was like your own branded stuffs hehe.

Ghoul S1 for October is almost certain, all hinges on Funimation's own schedule - which I am pretty sure is moving for similar. We've taken receipt of the uncensored video so are preparing some of the groundline work now :)!

Is there any chance of macross plus getting the anime limited bluray treatment? One of my absolute favourite anime movies (along with cowboy bebop & metropolis.)

Unless Anime Limited teamed up with the Macross creators to wipe out Harmony Gold I doubt there would be able to touch any show with the name 'Macross' on it.

The legal issues surrounding Macross continue to baffle me, not least because Macross Plus is available legally from Manga via iTunes, but is phsically OOP.

I guess they just don't like money. It's amazing how adverse to money Japanese companies can be. Mind you, Sony's been sitting on cowboy bebop (movie) & metropolis for years.

Edit: you'd think with Robotech's popularity & a bit of clever marketing the macross series could bring in loads. I really enjoyed macross frontier & would've paid for it if it had been available.

Macross Plus is ripe for the remastering treatment, and Frontier seems to be very well acclaimed - someone just needs to stump up the cash/sort out the legal issues.

I kind of feel like Harmony Gold think Robotech is a bigger deal than it really is - sure it has a certain cache amongst older fans, but I imagine many younger fans will likely associate more with Macross simply through a process of osmosis.

I have the Garden of Words, HAL and either Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star...can't remember which one of the last two I got from their site =/ haha.

Wooooo incentive for October MCM increased!!!

(Andrew, get me an AL pen I can use for work please :p)

Could it be the PAL encoding of the Manga version that means the runtime is longer?

I'm pretty sure the PAL encoding is supposed to speed up the film (effectively making it shorter).

Given this is from the VHS era I wonder if the BBFC also added the trailers (if there were any) to the runtime.

It'll be title cards etc I'd imagine and likely a bar at the start.

Speaking of classic anime films, Section 23 has just announced that they're releasing the first Patlabor film on Blu-ray. I'd personally love for AL to release that (& the second movie), but I'm guessing Manga Ent. probably still have the rights. I mean they did produce the (excellent) dub & vaguely mentioned being interested in releasing them if they believed they would be financially viable. As the public face of the company have pretty much been stripped away, who knows what the situation is with it now. It just sounds more like the kind of product that would fit in with AL's catalogue, even if there's probably plenty of Bandai premium sets still around. Either way, as long as the original dub on the disk, I'm a confirmed buyer. Anyone know what the current licensing rights are over here? Is it still with manga?

Patlabor films were with Beez last I saw them but guess they lapsed backwards now. Hard to tell if it's actually viable as they already kinda got the Ultimate treatment via Beez before BD came by! It'd be really hard to top that quality too...

This post is from a couple of months ago now, but what are other peoples' thoughts on this? I'd personally love an Anime Limited release of the Patlabor trilogy - the Beez collectors editions were released 8-9 years ago weren't they? They're certainly no longer in print.

Replicating it would be nice, but I'd certainly buy it as long as you topped the US release. Which wouldn't be hard, considering that it has no extras at all. I don't think any of the releases so far have included the original Japanese stereo tracks either, instead going for the 5.1 remixes.
