UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

They may only allocate a certain amount of stock of each product to be sold at their sale prices.
Sorry to confess but I'm not convinced as I've had my eye on that and also FMA 2003 Pt 1+2 for a while and they've all been sold out for ages.

I've had all 3 bookmarked in anticipation of the sale and now that the sale is live they remain sold out except for FMA 2003 Pt 1 being the only one back in stock.

So if nothing has changed and they remain sold out I must ask why are they in the sale section at all?

I have mixed feelings about this sale. I mean, some titles have a nice price, but... I don't really know if I have to have them. We still have this very high price, when I want to have free shipping. Additionally, I'm worried about the fees on delivery, because it will be UPS. I would probably take Royal Mail. I guess I'll wait to see if anything else cool shows up, because right now there's nothing here that "forces me to buy".

A couple of titles in the BOGOF area (1 @ £9,99 the other £19,99) but neither are that high priority. If it was free shipping then it will probably be a no brainer.

Well, the free shipping threshold going to £150 has pretty much killed it for me. That's basically spending a minimum of US$200. I have 6 Collector's Edition titles in my cart to get it over £150, but only one of the titles is actually in the sale, and it is just a movie, so not much of any savings on the overall order other than my 15% animeUNlimited code. All but one are titles I already have US standard releases of, so I would be double-dipping just for chipboard cases. I guess it is time to finally give up on importing CE sets and concentrate on standard US releases, which take up less shelf space anyway. It's been a fun 10 year run with importing from AL, but I'm out of shelf space and need to start being more selective with the anime titles I buy.

Yeah BOGOF has always been it's separate thing. They knew what they were doing slapping a £3.50 shipping charge just before this because it's sometimes cheaper to split your orders to get a better BOGOF deal. I'm sure that was getting abused previous years when there was no shipping charge at all. RIP to those days.

I got a couple of things. That Cardcaptors set dropping to £20 for both parts plus a bit of shipping was a no brainer for me.

I'll admit there's a few collectors editions that somewhat interest me, but I think I'm going to wait to see what's stocked in the further days of the sale before buying anything.

(It doesn't help that I'm heading to Germany for a few days tomorrow so I wanna make sure nothing is shipped while I'm not there to collect it.)

I think I've gone through everything that is available for the first day.

I'm at 8 sets, for a total of £73. Which is less than a tenner a set and they're all things I've had my eye on for a while and wanted to get before the sale started.

Overall, the sale looks pretty decent so far imo. There are/were some bargains. The standout deal for me is the Cardcaptor Sakura standard sets on the B1G1F offer for 19.99. That's a crazy price for a 4K transfer (albeit on Blu-ray) and 70 episodes. There are some relatively recent standard releases on the B1G1F deal too, like Golden Time, Babylon, Flowers of Evil, Food Wars, Shirobako, etc.

You're just not beating those prices at other retailers. I'm glad I held off from all those HMV offers over Black Friday.

I am hoping the Great Pretender standard sets go on that "buy the separate series sets together for a discount" deal.

Should I buy a 5th copy of The Woman Called Fujiko Mine? Is owning 5 copies of the same anime any more ridiculous than owning 4?

Gunbuster at £10 and all of Cardcaptor Sakura for £20 is an insanely good deal. I've heard Liz and The Blue Bird was good and I'd like to check out Digimon DALEK among others. But I also feel like i should wait until some more sales go live before doing anything. The Last Chance To Buy section will hopefully have something worth grabbing.
