UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

The upcoming German KSM release of Tekkonkinkreet has English/French dub+sub according to the listing on Plaion's site. The UK release details will probably be revealed soon.

I still need to watch the first season of Re:Zero that I got from AL a while back. I think I'll wait for the standard editions to go on some sort of offer.

Very nice looking collector's sets though.

The Legend of Hei arrived damaged so I've emailed for a replacement.

It looked like it was damaged before it was even sent out for shipment since there was bubble-wrapping and what not. 🤔

I was hoping to get my unboxing out for the set as the packaging is nice, but don't want to misrepresent what is probably an isolated case.

Oh no that's such a shame 😔
I really enjoy and appreciate your unboxing posts. I hope you get a replacement soon 🤞

@Hanners Never heard back on the french authoring issues. And we got one more trash release this month: Fate Stay Night HF1 with incorrect gamma and gross encoding.

When will this end? This has been going on for years. Are the french customers a joke to you? Furthermore there has never been a replacement for GunBuster (or any other defective title, unlike for the UK customers). Please stop licensing titles if you are not willing to put the bare minimum effort to release them properly, thanks.

Damn, cheaper to just import season 2 from the states.

You're not actually wrong. Right now, you can get the limited edition from Amazon US for £65 (including UK VAT and shipping to the UK, includes all 25 episodes, and is region A/B). The Anime Limited equivalent is going to set you back £90 for the two sets.

I always try and prioritise region B releases where I can, but instances like that you'd be hard pressed not to go for the import and save yourself £25.

City Hunter: Angel Dust German Collector's Edition specs:

Audio: Japanese, French, German, Italian
Subtitles: English, French, German, Italian

Standard Edition appears to be German+Japanese audio and German subtitles only.

The AL version does include the 2 x soundtracks which as far as I can see the US version does not.

Obviously whether this is worth £25 depends on the buyer but it’s worth noting.

(Though the SRP is £74.99 each which is just madness)

Yeah the two sets have similar content (I own the US LE for Season 2 due to FOMO though I plan to replace it with AL's version to match Season 1) but the OSTs are exclusive to AL's release which is interesting considering they didn't have that for the first season set. One thing that I'm curious about is whether the booklet is in hardcover or not.

This is true. I suppose 12.50 per CD isn't horrendous (I think).

But you're right, you really have to catch these sorts of sets on EB or in a sale for it to be 'worth it'. What's the price going to be after EB? £60 each? Crazy stuff for 12 episodes. Then again, if it's one of your favourite series you're just going to end up paying it aren't you. I know I'd overpay to own my favourite shows physically. These companies know how to get us.

Re:Zero seems quite popular so I imagine the CEs will sell out quicker than most sets. As for me, I'll probably pick up the standard editions in a B1G1F deal in ~4 years time for £15-£20 😂

When this was originally announced (by CR, a year ago), it was less than £50 for the full series. I’m pretty sure we predicted if/when re-listed it would have a doubling in price by splitting into two part sets...
And related; the srp of the US set is $90 (vs UK £150?). So whether you look at that or the ‘discounted’ price, we’re paying close to double.
