UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Got the delay emails about Violet and NT.

Given how crap January 2021 will be for the UK, I welcome the delays giving me something to be happy about.

To preserve the original dub I believe is the reason and the films are not HD so it would have been the show and 3 DVDs otherwise

Oh I know, I wasn't being literal, I was just making fun of the fact that it's one of my least favourite Gundam shows and yet I'm spending a good chunk of change on two copies of it at once... Stupid sexy matching boxsets.

I know this feeling as I had this conundrum when Gundam Wing came out. I wanted the Gundam collection but I only really care about UC Gundam as most of AU isn't that great. In the end I decided I would be content with a UC only (with exceptions) collection.

Wait for Destiny (ive held of watching it because I worry i wouldnt buy these sets otherwise) As Seed was a fun rubbish rip off 0079 and Misato/ Sailor Moon is the captain with the best character death in the series Bye bye Flay

I remember liking.... the first half-ish of Destiny. Wondering what all the fuss was about, then IT happened.

Still I'm sure I'll plonk down more cash for that series next year as well...

Yeah, I mean frankly I don't really know why I'm getting the original Seed and the HD version together, I definitely don't need a slightly worse HD version along with them!

I do think that it's always important to preserve and present the original version and I would like, for example, the Archives of Evangelion to be included in the Eva set when it comes to fruition because that's how the series originally found its audience (or vice versa) but when it comes down to it I think the original cut of Death and Rebirth should be included because that's how it was originally screened and I think that Death(True)2 should be included because that appears to be the final version, but I'd be less bothered by including Death(True) because it's something of an interim edit. If that makes sense...it does in my head! Sorry for the Eva tangent.

Back when I was collecting the Japanese releases I had to pay a £60 customs charge on a volume. On top of that, the Royal Mail staffer who dealt with me insisted a Blu ray from Japan could only be porn.

i would've complained to the depot manager and got the staffer seen to for trying to shame you publicly
probably would've got a customs charge refund as a goodwil gesture also

Given that most UK Blu-rays and DVDs are pressed in Europe, after reading this article, my optimism re: early delivery of delayed preorders has taken a knock.

Port troubles leave UK bookseller with no books

I’d recently placed an order with Movie-Mars and had been scratching my head at a mid-January delivery date for a back catalogue movie disc. That traffic jam at the ports is one explanation. Wound up paying more to get it from a local e-tailer.

This explains why places are having trouble restocking Absolute Swamp Thing vol 2

Shouldn't these issues at the ports only affect imports from overseas?
I would expect most imports from Europe to be handled by road + channel tunnel / ferry

yes they are coming from mostly Europe and they will be held up in one of several lorry parks for checks in Kent. January will be a testing time in many ways.
