Andrew, do you have plans to release the Cowboy Bebop movie too?

Teo
I believe Sony holds the rights to it, so I guess Andrew will have to wrestle some kind of arrangement....

I need to know the pre-order prices!

Re: Anime Limited Announce First Release: Cowboy Bebop DVD &

They certainly did - I still have it on UMD somewhere.
I'm not convinced they still do since they haven't put it up on online anywhere like Stream Boy etc.

Comparison between Japanese BD and, I think, R1 Bebop Remix

So yeah. Note the horrible dot crawl and rainbowing on the DVD shots. And presumably the UK DVDs will have added unsightly NTSC-PAL frame blending for good measure.

Who says I plan to do an NTSC-PAL conversion... :)?

Dabbling with the idea of starting NTSC colour DVDs for now unless I can find a magic way to remove that very problem as many people are doing it and returns are proving negligible.

Thoughts?

AP
PS Holdbacks on BD due to requirement not so much choice.
Been re-reading through this thread, and whilst I pretty much buy BD only now, I would still possibly buy NTSC DVD's for selected shows - Just not PAL - hence why unless its an MVM Deal of the Week for an older show, I don't buy any UK DVD releases.

Also if we are throwing suggestions out here for licenses, Please get Fate/Zero and Garden of Sinners and give them releases they deserve.
I would hate to see F/Z released in two 2 disc, extraless, DVD only half series - same thing with Garden of Sinners.
It would be nice if we actually got a domestic release of Both on BD over here - even if it comes with a higher price tag.

Also a question, are Anime LTD going for a NISA style Premium model (2 Disc, nice packaging, DVD/BD Combo), or an Aniplex USA Premium model ("Best Quality" -Use of Japanese Masters - Higher disc count, more extras etc.) with their premium releases?

Re: Anime Limited Announce First Release: Cowboy Bebop DVD &

If Anime Limited bring over the blu-ray of Place Promised I will die a happy man. More Shinkai titles on BD please. :)

Re: Anime Limited Announce First Release: Cowboy Bebop DVD &

Here is my whislist for your guys.

The Place Promised in Our Early Days
Fate Zero (cross 10000 fingers)
Gekijouban Kara no Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners (cross 10001 fingers)
Hajime no Ippo (this would be great, almost impossible to get atm, would pay quite a cash for it)
Genshiken
Any movies would be great, classic or new

Re: Anime Limited Announce First Release: Cowboy Bebop DVD &

I think many of you will agree with me when I suggest Lupin III? For such a classic franchise, I'm surprised that to my knowledge, the TV series' have yet to make it here. I've been tempted to import Discotek's R1 release, but I don't like paying import prices for DVDs.

Personally, in regards to new shows, I'd love to see Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions released here. I guess there's always a chance that Kazé will pick up the physical distribution rights (depending on the streaming numbers), but I do really want to see it released over here. I actually had to fight off a temptation to import the blu-rays from Japan (even though they lack subtitles) because they're so pretty. (Seriously, this is the first pressing of volume 1!).

Much as I'd like to see it released, I don't necessarily think releasing such an old, long running show would be a good business move (especially in the UK). You might find yourself doing a Manga and cancelling the later volumes because of low demand (pissing fans off) or a CPM, and carrying on releasing something which isn't selling as you slide into bankruptcy, which might ultimately lead to an ADV, which is a combination of the two.

If we're talking Lupin, I imagine The Fuma Conspiracy and First Contact would sell as stand alone releases though.

If you won't even shell out £30 for a series of Lupin, I think that illustrates exactly why it would be a terrible idea to release it in the UK.

Re: Anime Limited Announce First Release: Cowboy Bebop DVD &

The Fujiko Mine series might not be an unreasonable candidate for a UK release, but otherwise I agree with ayase. Discotek have done a wonderful job with their release of the first Lupin series, but I imagine it's a pretty niche item, even in the US market, so I really can't see it doing the numbers over here.

Series 2 is long enough that you'd need to stream it rather than do a physical release. As for Pink Jacket... so many people have such an intense dislike of series 3 that it's questionable if even the US will ever get it.

£37.50 on UP1, which including postage would come to about £40. I'd definitely pay £30 for Lupin but with my budget, the £10 gap between £30 and £40 can be a real deal breaker.

Maybe they could test the waters with some of the TV specials and movies that never made it over here before?

£32.72 on their USA site, £35.35 shipped.
At this point their US site is almost always cheaper, why do people use the .co.uk site again? (Other than Manga/UK stuff)

I have no idea how much Freddo's even are now, I'm going to assume they're not 10p anymore.

Re: Anime Limited Announce First Release: Cowboy Bebop DVD &

Want Bebop on Blu-ray, although wishing I hadn't bought the remix DVD set now as I still haven't got round to watching it

Re: Anime Limited Announce First Release: Cowboy Bebop DVD &

I use up1.co.uk because of their paypal checkout, wish the US site had that :/

20p now. It's criminal. I remember when they used to be 5p.

That is still with Sony Pictures - but if it ever freed up I'd certainly snap it up if possible!

Duly noted on points there for NTSC :)! License suggestions duly noted too and added to the list - can't comment but I am definitely keeping an eye on both of them!

As for the model - we're evaluating the best way right now. I think it depends on the title and what extras are available for what will be the best way to proceed on titles too. All about balance at the end of the day there.

Hope this helps!

Andrew

Re: Anime Limited Announce First Release: Cowboy Bebop DVD &

I can safely say that Aniplex style pricing is far too expensive for me. I'm only a student and I need to eat, but I'd be very happy with an NISA style model. Their sets always look so gorgeous and they're very well priced for what they are.
