ok we all know how good anime can be and we can all make lists as long as Luffy's arm about why we love ep 78 of blah, 'cos such and such had pigtails or he used his new debu debu no jitsu.

But this topics about the the lets downs. crappy animation (the same frames being used again and again for one scene), really bad story lines that dont go any where (yeah naruto fillers i'm talking about at you,) or simply anime that just lacking the something special.

I'm going to start the ball rolling by slagging off THE PING PONG CLUB.

it's ment to be like the japanese version of south park. its not its just crap. it has cheap and lazy animation, weak jokes that are just not funny (ok so theres one good joke, about the cool guy but thats not the point.) some stuffs borderline racist. its goes on way too long. 5 dvd's roughly at 100 mins each. i reviewed this for a friends website when it came out. he is no longer my friend.

Sorry, i'll post again later with my thoughts. But have you actually ever seen Southpark? because honestly that description fits the earlier episodes of Southpark to the bone.

hmmmmmmmmm. yeah. i suppose the thing was southpark made me laugh and its jokes although rude and crude tend to have a bigger point to make about how stupid society can be as a whole.

i cant find anything smart about the ping pong club.

Haibane Renmei - Big fat YAWN.

Uh oh...

And personally I'll go for Fullmetal Alchemist, it was hyped so much for me and I watched the whole thing, wondering when it would actually get decent. It was alright, but I've watched so many better animes that don't get half as much recognition.

couldnt agree more.I was desperate to see this series.Maybe my expectations were extremely high under all the hype? I dont know, but yeah, theres a few episodes here and there that are alright.Overal though, wasn't impressed.

Evangelion. Especially the last 2 episodes.

I know it was cliche. But when i saw the series on the sci fi channel back in 2002, i had no idea this series was so highly rated. At the time it EASILLY lost out to Nadesico and Blue Gender, and the last two episodes, still recorded in my journal (long before I learned of the fandom of it) anounce the disgust.

You can probably realise my reaction when i found out it was liked so much!

Right, aside from the cliche.

Fullmetal Alchemist. I have argued this one before. Brilliant story - Diabolical presentation (Epic story does not work when presented as a comedy = short jokes do not work!)

Ghost in the shell
(film) It had some good stuff I will admit, but the last 20 minutes are snoozeworthy waffle. The series, while the Tachicoma's try their best to ruin it (ugh), is a much better idea.

Samurai X (the series and film) The OVA, being a very serious thing, works immencely well. Then i saw the film and some of the series, and I was shocked. Perhaps seeing the ultra realistic OVA first was not the best idea, but I can't change my mind that the more comedic/lightweight angle of the film/series is horrible inferior.

Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. It has its moments, especially early on, but it turns into a snoozefest towards the end. It couldn't decide whether to go the Excel saga route or the drama route, and took a rather meh middle course.

Martian Successor Nadesico - Prince of Darkness. No, just no no no. Horrible in just about every way. It is just defaces the series completely.

All I can think of off hand. I shall stop my ranting :p

Tenchi Muyo - Boring is a very apt word for it. I've seen countless people vouch for it but I just can't see why.

Ghost in the Shell - It was also incredibly boring. Way overrated.

I have seen worse, but I didn't have any expectations for those.

Gilgamesh - It was plain boring and the animation looked pretty...crap. (For me anyway --; )

InuYasha - People loved it, I watched it for so many episodes, it was rubbish.

Noir - Eeh, I dunno, I remember seeing the trailer and thinking it was going to be so damn cool, but it wasn't :\

One Piece - : D;; A lot of people here seem to like it but, I just couldn't get into it, I thought it was so...boring --; And I never really grew attatched to any characters :[

(Haa, I think my problem is with a lot of things I hype it up too much for myself, and then when it doesn't meet my expectations, I don't like it XD;; )

Evangelion... Its a load of over-hyped rubbish. The story... is.. err.. there was a story?

Naruto was a little dissapointing too, but I was expecting the childishness of it, so I wasnt that suprised that I thought it was mediorce, but I have Bleach so alls well :D.

Death Note. That Light kid needs to get laid, big time. Same as the manga, really, boring, not much too it, average cat&mouse detective stuff, etc.
