Anime Legend Outlaw Star Box Set To Cost £40?

£40 is abit much.

However I'll still buy it at some point. Probably going to be cheaper than that though since most anime legends DVDs are cheaper than the RRP.

This will quite possibly surprise some, but I'm more than happy with those options. I'm happy to pay more for direct to Anime Legends releases, if that is the case.

I watched Outlaw Star way back in 2004 and in 2005 I saw the box set second hand at Ayacon 5 for £35, it's been available for about £50 for a looong time, I just can't bring myself to pay that much for it >.< and being a weekendconNOOB I guessed the set at the con would be around later for me to grab *uberstoopid* it was gone what must have been seconds after I saw it T^T

hmm

I like Outlaw Star a lot, in fact I believe it was the first anime I ever watched.

But I'm not going to pay £40 for something I could just watch online. If they lowered the price then maybe.

Ridley, they can still lower the price and even then, you can still throw out the "I can watch it online".

Also, £40 is not a lot for a 26 Episode boxset. £40 for 12 episodes is pushing it. I personally would buy Outlaw Star at £40.

I already have the show from R1 (the very early release in twinpacks) but don't think £40 is unreasonable - remember that pretty much nowhere actually sells at RRP, so this will be much cheaper when you actually buy it.

If you check out the actual RRPs of Manga's half season sets you'll see this is a good deal for the UK.

£40 for 26 episodes is cheaper then MVM and taking into account the discounts that price can be lowered to £25.

Lets take a look at Manga UK's future release of Baccano! 16 episodes at a RRP of £39.99. Do I hear complaints for that? No? I thought not.

Why is it because it has Beez's label on it people turn their noses up at it. They still need to make a profit from it or it won't ever happen again. I am more then happy to pay £40 for it (I payed £30 for half a season of Planetes, that's how committed I am :p).

I think just because it is laid out as a straight £40 people are getting turned off. Looking at what Rui said above about Manga's releases. I bought; Claymore, Darker Than Black, Ghost Hunt, Ouran High School Host Club and Negima!? in their single releases. Claymore and Darker Than Black at £13 each. That's £39 with discounts and Outlaw Star is £40 with out discounts.

Perhaps it's because Outlaw Star is a 12 year-old series and, rightly or wrongly, older shows tend to be perceived as having less value.

I bought the R1 double-disc editions used because the video quality didn't warrant what they would have cost to buy new. But if Beez can get their hands on remastered materials, I certainly would be interested in upgrading.

I say if your going to send it out as something that's going to be £40 then remove the anime legends label from it. It's going to dilute the idea of that label being a "Platimum" line for anime.

This I agree with, the shows that were released new under it in the US (Sola, True Tears) still kept the same price structure. If it's not £25 RRP (or under), don't put it under the cheap product line.
Splitting it makes impulse purchases less likely, I don't like buying part of something only to find the rest is unobtainable (it's far less annoying if a complete series is OOP than if half of it is).

The Anime Legends line in the US has RRP's ranging from $20-50. The majority of releases falling into two distinct price points; $39.99 and $49.99. I fail to see how Bandai US having multiple price points in the line doesn't detract it from being a 'cheap product line', but it would for Beez? Let's not loose our heads; the proposed prices are still extremely competitive.

That's all well and good but that's America and as we all know american prices are not equal to our own.

All the Anime Legends sets released in the UK up to this point (unless I have missed something) have had a RRP of £25. Therefore it's not hard to conjecture that The Anime Legends line in the UK is synonymous with a whole series (or a set containing a "Season" of anime (26 episodes) which ever one's the highest) going for that cheaper price.

Of course, I also conjecture that Outlaw Star had it's chance for a Singles and Full Box set years ago with it's airing on CNX/Toonami as with The Big O (Which was also absent from Singles/Full Box. I also know friends who were gagging for a UK release of that) and hence it's missed it's chance for that full price so maybe I'm having far too radical thoughts to be of worth in this conversation

Problem is that my shelf space is already spase so i would prefer to have the whole thing completed! anyone got any great ideas on how to expand my shelves?

Buy more shelving?

In all seriousness, this isn't necessarily a costly option. Argos have a very affordable, good quality line of flat-packed shelving and storage units at the mo. I need to nab one now that I've filled my DVD tower, in fact.

O.S. manga was super, I don't know about £40 boxsets though, I prefer to save on U.S. versions...Bravestar, anyone?
