Then be prepared for the problems to never go away, and probably be mugged and/or killed by the same people who caused problems at your school. It's schools with lazy teachers and all the free houses the Government give to chavs that is starting to bring down this country. They just don't know how lucky they are.
Also, on Environmentalism, I hate NIMBYs. I'd love a windfarm near my house. I live on the edge of the 'burbs and not far away there's just farmland as far as you can see. Windfarms would give the area an awesome, futuristic look. Sadly, we don't get enough wind to make a windfarm useful.
Lol, i think thats what everyone is thinking. But i don't see the world making any big changes towards remewable energy any time soon. For years everyone has been talking about it, but nothing ever happens. Nothing will happen until we are all up to our knees in water.ayase said:On the environmental side I agree with the whole idea of recycling and not being wasteful of raw materials, but with energy I really don't know what all the fuss is. While we're burning fossil fuels it's bad sure, but I imagine it'll all be renewable and nuclear soon enough and then we can waste away to our heart's content.

So you're saying the only way to deal with chavs and bullies is to kill them or otherwise result to violence? No offense, but that is the most stupid idea i've heard on the subject in a long time. I was bullied for the better part of my school like. Through Primary 1 to probably about S4 of High school. I never once dropped down to their level and attacked them, and never had the thought crossed my mind. Bullies are bullies, no matter where you go, what you do, there will be some form of bully there, they aren't something that can just be swept under the carpet never to be seen again, it also doesn't mean you can't deal with them either. I was lucky in that i was able to completely ignore them 95% of the time, only getting bad a couple of times and that usually involved my brother as well.
My advise would be this. Don't just go and try to fight them like they would you, thats dropping to their level and basically making you just as bad as them. It doesn't matter who started it, thats just an excuse. I advise ignoring them as much as possible, keeping your distance whereever possible, and most of all, keeping a calm and collected mindset. Ok that may sound a tad cliché/used many a time before, but it worked wonders for me. If you get near snapping point, find something else to get rid of the anger/stress its caused...say...for me for example a good fighting game or perhapsa stress ball could be good, whatever you find best. Just don't fight them at all or even taunt/give them a reason to want to fight you, as it makes things worse.

i agree with all of this, you should never lower yourself to their level of sub human standards, otherwise you'll be no better then them and you'll become something you hate.
You're probably right on those points Arby (and I more or less echo your experiences with bullying) but the problem I've always had with not fighting back is that it leaves you to absorb both your and others' anger yourself, and I've never thought of that as either fair or healthy. They get rid of their anger on you, then you end up with double yourself, and if you don't get rid of it somehow... well I think that's often why things like school shootings happen. Emotions need some sort of release valve lest they lead to some kind of mental damage. Violent games and the like help, but really I do to some extent believe that anger should be directed where it's deseved. Do unto others should work both ways - and if authority won't help you then you're pretty screwed. You either have to grin and bear it, hurting yourself - or inflict it back on them or someone else, hurting others.Arbalest said:My advise would be this. ayase said:Don't get me wrong Spyro, I'm not advocating any particular course of action - I think both are equally bad it just depends on who it's bad for. You can keep the anger and attempt to deal with it in your head or pass it along down the line. I do think the first requires a great deal of willpower to actually work and not cause yourself more suffering though. We're talking Dalai Lama or Gandhi here.
It's good you're getting out of there and going somewhere new though, a fresh start can be very liberating. I did the same and went to a college further away where no-one knew me. I didn't stick College out though, tried three different ones and it just never worked for me. Once I wasn't forced into education anymore I no longer saw the point of having to learn inside a system created by other people. I prefer to teach myself anything I want to know at my own pace in my own way, even if it doesn't result in any qualifications at the end of the day.
Currently none. Have worked at retail and desk jobs and am now attempting to start my own bookshop. It combines something I have knowledge about and passion for with something that can actually make some money. I'll continue attempting to knock some of my writing into shape fit to be published one day - that'll always be the dream.Spyro201 said:And yeah- I'm glad i'm getting out of there too. Out of interest, can I ask what job you have?

One of these days though I know I'll pack it all in, see how much cash everything I have is worth and go wandering the world again like my forum namesake... That's where I feel I belong really. Society is shite and the only way to truly live is detached from it. I much prefer to be on the outside looking in, and hope it never traps me to the extent I can't escape from it.

being all peaceful and for what? in the end he got a title as the guy who got assasinated.....why bother being such a wimp lol
well carry on the weight sessions and then just bide your time, like ayase said, two paths...one...kick their arses, i've seen em and they look weak. OR you can just ignore em and in 20 years at the reunion go back and say "hello ********.....i've done this with my life....and your still a moron on the dole with a social status of a hermit......glad you picked on me....it pushed me to do far better things than you"
or just do abit of both haha
okay in year 11 i stayed behind to finish coursework on my own.....a guy who's in the year below me.....thinking he would show off to his 3 friends hiding under their hoodies. it was winter so it was pretty dark.....this lad punched me in the face and told me to drop like a bitch......i stood to the side holding my face with one arm and balancing myself with the other. he walked off laughing.
i walked home bleeding, using my blazer's sleeve to try and supress the nose bleed. got in and my mum was horrified.
i washed up. and went and sat in the cold air outside.
to this day i haven't hit him. nothing at all....i've had plenty of chances, but in all honesty....my life doesn't revolve around a jerk. so live and let die.
