The Anime/Manga I Bought Today Was...

It's a crime! The storyboards themselves aren't so bad as it's mostly to show the work and art involved in the production, but they should have translated all the interviews and bits.

This I today realised, though I didn't have time to check some shops so still might find something...

    Sci-fi manga

Thanks for the tips. I have Appleseed already, I love Masumune Shirow's work. I've also been thinking of Domu already, but I will check out some of the others...I hope Blackwells still have the 2 for 3 offer on!

    Sci-fi manga

Yeah well, i said I'd like. If it's been an anime that hasn't been licensed outside Japan that's fine. Bah.

    Sci-fi manga

Can anyone recommend any? I'd like to branch out from fantasy epics and japanese high schools, and I'd rather read something that wasn't also an anime.

Optimum's Latest: Porco Rosso and Pom Poko

Have to say that I love Porco Rosso, not my favourite Ghibli related film but it's not far behind any. It's a must see. I haven't seen Pom Poko but I think I will be getting it, it's the completist in me. Now I have to decide whether to get Porco Rosso again even though I have the Chinese version...

    ITV place spotlight on anime

I'm excited, can't wait! Though it is an arts show on ITV and so not given the prime timeslots, it's still about the highest profile for anime on terrestrial TV since Akira played on BBC2, apart from the odd anime review by Jonathan Ross on Film 200x. This can only be a good thing!

    Sony license Blood+

Sony also have an advantage in that they are a large multinational. They can heavily promote it, with a ready audience (as has been pointed out, it will appeal to fans of the OVA and Production IG) and if we're lucky they could treat it like 'normal' TV series, releasing the seasons in one go...

Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG competition

Yes, the head thinks of the savings, but the heart wants to see it now!

    Sony license Blood+

I don't think blood's that bad, perhaps I had lower expectations as I don't have such a high regard for the OVA. The series is a competent little horror story which just seems to move a little too slowly along. There are far better shows, but it's also not rubbish, 13 episodes so far and I...

    Ragnarok

I've seen 10 so far in English, though I'm sure I've read it will be big too, big like 50+ volumes

    Planetes, what do you think?

Speaking of realistic, here's a site that puts a dampener on every film or anime featuring space battles: http://www.intuitor.com/moviephysics/ All the articles are good but the one relevant to space fighting is about Star Wars Revenge of the Sith.

    Ragnarok

There's a game but I don't know which came first. Reading interviews with the creator Myung-Jin Lee it seems that he came up with the idea. Seems that some research is in order...

    Ragnarok

Is anyone else reading this manwha? It's a sword and sorcery epic, with influences from Norse mythology. I think there's meant to be an anime version but from what little I've seen all the characters are different.
