What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

Very jealous of the Gundam Sets. They look really nice.

I got my Zen Market items today. Including a CD complication of songs from the Like A Dragon / Yakuza series, alongside merch from the limited time Gundam Hathaway promotional cafe. I have some more imports coming later this month but I’m very happy to have this standee for my shelf.

Grabbed some more films; M (by Fritz Lang), The Beast To Die, Jakoman & Tetsu and Gates of Flesh. The last two were on sale at HMV and they suckered me in. I have no idea what they are about but I’m in the mood to watch something new now.IMG_3528.jpeg

Purchases from the past month or so. I haven't really been picking up much anime of late. However, there are a few things I've picked up recently:

Full CD soundtracks from the Legend of Heroes video games from Pin Box

I had to pick up the CD for Azure from CD Japan as it was OOS at Pin Box, but it worked out to the same price. But after enjoying the OST from original trilogy, I went a bit mad and got the rest. I listen to these most days and have them on in the background, while I chill out. The music is genuinely incredible imo.

The remaining CD soundtracks; Daybreak I & II, Horizons from Pin Box, and Azure from CD Japan

Dragon Ball Super, Volume 24 from Forbidden Planet

A special volume as it marks the final chapter in which Akira Toriyama personally oversaw before his passing. Chapter 103: "A Legacy Toward the Future" is the last chapter of Dragon Ball Super which Toriyama had a direct hand in. Perhaps fittingly his final amendment/recommendation was to have Piccolo turn around to wave goodbye to another character, as he flies off.

There's a nice message from Toyotarou at the beginning of the volume and some tribute art at the end.

Thank you, King 👑

Postie arrived.

Plunderer Part 1
I sold my DVDs years ago, I have now rebought both parts on Blu-ray. They cost less than I sold the DVDs for.

Occultic Nine
I've got this on DVD but couldn't resist £2.99 each.

Ancient Magus Bride Complete DVD S1
Just a whim, £9.99 was okay for me to try.

Have you not seen Ancient Magus' Bride yet, Big O? Just the way you worded that sounds like you haven't... wow, I'd put that series right up there with Apothecary Diaries, Violet Evergarden, and Frieren - it's basically a top 5 anime for me - with Hanasakeru Seishounen being the fifth title in the mix. 🥰

I received one Blu-ray title in the mail yesterday - courtesy of the same blu-ray.com anime forum friend I get quite a few viewed-once copies from at a good price!

Small haul today. Hope to get volume 2 of City Hunter someday but is crazy expensive right now. No idea why.View attachment 44509
The reason those volumes of City Hunter are expensive is likely cause they were the versions that got cancelled hence they're kinda rare (Raijin stopped releasing Manga in the mid 2000s) the current recently released City Hunter omnibuses from Kana are the ones to collect if you want to get the whole series in print. They literally only just started to be released in October and only omnibus 1 & 2 are currently available. Cat's Eye, the other really good series from Tsukasa Hojo is getting released in the same omnibuses as well from the same company.

Oh, I get that.
I meant why is volume 2 specifically of this release $120 when the others are $30-40?

This one looked too nicey nice, although that was without the research I usually do. Unless there's a character with impressive castle walls.
The price was the deciding factor.
After 2 episodes, I'm quite interested and it's a bit creepy. If that's the right word.

I don't remember the plot of those early episodes, but some of the stories it tells a bit later I found very disturbing, which made me drop the show, but I have a low tolerance for that kind of thing. Specifically, there's an arc involving cats that was more than I could deal with.

Oh thank god. Didn't want to be the one to tell you it was a set you couldn't complete. As to why it's going for so much more...god knows. To be honest out of print manga is such a wild west these days with online sellers I think you've just got to put it down to "scalpers gonna scalp" and go about your day. Sometimes there's a reason like it's a first edition but a lot of the time it's just greed.

May I ask though why you're so invested in getting the volumes that Raijin released? I never owned those so I wasn't sure if there was anything special about them. Shame Raijin never completed the Fist of the north star "master edition" as while I prefer the original black and white there was still something cool about the coloured edition, it was kind of like a director's cut of a movie you love that isn't the definitive edition but is worthwhile to own still :)
