Just got mine. Interested to know if anyone else has subtitle issues with it.
It looks like the first 2 episodes of Disc 1 have the wrong subtitles. Like they don't match the Japanese dialogue at all. It looks like they might be intended for a different episode.
From my limited scanning...
It is also true though that Air, Kanon and Clannad (and Little Busters, Rewrite etc) all do have a certain "style" where the characters have very big eyes, with their mouths unusually close to them. Itaru Hinoue was Key's character designer for most of these and she does have a "distinct" style...
The bigger problem was I no longer had a region 1 DVD player so I got rid of them. I think they might have been even earlier versions anyway, ADV maybe? Can't remember.
Anyway, simpler to just have DVDs for your region :P
It's a shame to see Air and Kanon only on DVD, but as a lifelong Key and KyoAni fan I feel compelled to buy them anyway. Hopefully still be better than the not great region 1 DVDs I imported years ago.
Apologies if this has been covered before, but I bought the K-ON! BD set from MVM (anime-on-line). I think it's still sealed as I didn't open it after hearing about the disc issues. Could I send it back to MVM to be replaced with the new version or is there no real policy around this yet?
Man, I really want Project A-Ko - it occupies a place of nostalgia for me as the first anime I ever saw back when I was a little whippersnapper, and I'd absolutely love to own a remaster especially seeing the work that's gone into restoring it.
However I am assuming this will be region A locked...
What I watch used to be very driven by how a series scored on AniDB, MAL etc. But over the years I have learned that it certainly isn't the be all and end all when it comes to whether I'll enjoy a series or not. Whilst there aren't many really highly rated series that I've outright hated...
I'm actually tempted by that myself (also, NICE price), although Rightstuf charge a fortune for UK shipping now :(
Do they tend to region lock Blu-Rays on that label, do you know?
Honestly I don't understand why this series got so vilified when there have been so many other "borderline hentai"...
