The Gundam Thread

So turns out certain people were invited to cover yesterday.

I wasn't and so all my coverage has been snubbed.

As someone who has been covering Gundam here for the better part of 25 years, continues to be a lovely feeling to know I'm very much not wanted now it's popular and cool.

Over the years I've seen a lot of people drop doing this to work on other things and days like these make me feel I should be doing the same,

I'm sorry to have an extended crash out about this but I keep finding out that seemingly every UK outlet/reporter but me was invited to Friday and I have no idea what I did wrong. We covered the pop up extensively, I even defended the staff when people were abusing them on social media...what the hell did I do wrong?

Literal years of coverage and support when this wasn't a going concern in the UK and now it's taken off like I always vouched for, I'm not good enough to be involved.

For what it's worth, published my coverage.

It could be I'm projecting my '...' usage onto you, paired with the 30x£150 part/your HellCat posts, but I do sense some underlying frustration that Gundam is now so...popular, peering through thine internet 'phone voice'.

Not that I'm knocking you for that...if so. 'Tis a weirdo thing: being into anime since 2001ish, when it was still niche and fansubs/DVDs were the limit, to now, when it's everywhere and every plonker has watched Attack on Titan etc. That, and conventions of the non-Gundam variety being full of OnlyFans womens trying to thirst trap the few remaining 'otaku'/losers that have a deep passion for the medium, by dressing up as their waifus. I shalt not be tempted by hussies!
(unless Howo the Wisewolf, with an apple and bushy tail)

Sorry, bit of a random tangent to your Gundam Base article and rewards: dunno if you feel the same way when see Gundam cosplayers, trying to...lure you in, with their 'V' helmets 'n all.
Gundam I'm much like most modern anime fans, a filthy casual, bar reading Gundam Origins. Wing wasn't my cup of tea by the time I got round to it. UC onry 4 me. I hope next time you're one of the chosen 30, though.

I'm not frustrated it's popular. I didn't stick with it when it was largely dead here in the UK to be some douche hipster but because I liked it. And some part of me was like "This is great, the UK is sleeping on something awesome." As I've said my frustration comes from spending all that time boosting it when it was less popular and now seemingly being told "Why would we need you? The cool people are here now! You're irrelevant."

For any issues I have as a person, my fandom has never been about owning Gundam. It's a massive franchise that got there with nothing from me for 22 years.
