GUNDAM
About (Gun)damn time.

Not an Ultimate (teacher) Edition?

I have Gibiate in my to-watch pile. Don’t think I have King's Game, while Ex-Arm wasn’t cheap, so… I’ll evaluate.
I did look up Ex-Arm on AL’s site, and the synopsis is just random confusion. Admittedly a lot of anime synopsis’ seem to fail at actually describing suitably or correctly, but that one seems to be in the “special” category.
Ok, so I’m now trying to get through Gibiate.
There’s not really anything to recommend it, is there? It doesn’t deserve to exist, let alone have a physical release, let alone have a CE, let alone have a CE with some actual extra bits.

I’m just going to say that it’s akin to one of those early year school plays that you can only appreciate in any way if you’re the parent of one of those involved.
You know; it’s supposed to be a nativity scene - except little Johnny and friends will only play as ninjas, so the teacher’s given up on anything except trying to get them on and off stage in approximate sequence as quickly as possible. But having them scream some made-up power-move names and have a ninja gunfight with “Joseph” (better than swords, I guess?) just ends up with “Mary” starting to cry in the middle of the stage while holding the decapicated head of baby “Jesus” by its long blonde hair (she pulled all the limbs off earlier).
Yep. That’s about right. I get why a parent would want to take a video of their little darling “performing” their heart out, but making other people watch it (can you demand they enjoy it?) is a definite no.

Let's just say there's a reason it's the lowest rated series with full length episodes on MAL, even lower than EX-ARM.

@Hanners I have recently emailed for a refund on one of my orders after having had no update on it for around 3 weeks and asking for updates on its status to no response. Are you able to provide some help or let them know about this refund? Thank you

I think we'll get a Hosada movie (probably The Girl Who Leapt Through Time), Galaxy Express 999, Angels Egg CE (no Standard initially), the next Naruto/Bleach (I have no idea how many of these are to go), Her Blue Sky and finally Macros Plus Movie Edition

Just to say, Galaxy Express 999 is a France-only title.

Macross Plus Movie Edition will be putting in an appearance this week though! Beyond that, we have a whole rack of big titles that are at the "not quite approved but getting there" stage, so it's mostly been a case of waiting to see what gets final sign-off first, hence the radio silence on newswires currently. I'm hoping we can get back to normal service on that count soon!

So what's happening with SEED Freedom then?

I feel like I'm gonna get shouted at but obviously people were able to post the supposed box because AL France are already taking preorders.

I'm genuinely worried AL UK are on their last nerve with me but how does this work? Wasn't the whole idea established ages ago that the UK and French releases were effectively twinned to make licensing more economically viable? If one is content to put it up, why not the other? I swear half my continual displayed frustration is due to inconsistencies like this.

Amongst other things, the UK and France are different markets with different retail ecosystems - France in particular needs a far longer window for retailers to receive and upload product listings from the UK, so out of necessity they have to launch pre-orders first. This often also means our French team needing to launch pre-orders before everything is 100% approved, which we don't do in the UK because we know folks here aren't a fan of release date changes after pre-order so we avoid it as best we can.

It's still a UK and France co-production being produced, printed and distributed simultaneously, which will have the exact same release date (although of course we always receive stock a little later due to Brexit, but we factor in customs issues as best we can), so really it's just splitting hairs over exact pre-order launch dates at this point. Everyone will receive their purchase at broadly the same time.
