UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

To be fair, it is available in the BOGO section. Could get both seasons for £16.66
But the point I'm making is they weren't this low on release. AL took a pair of shows rightstuf released as full series sets, assigned a £70 value to each half and sold them as such.

I'm aware Gundam isn't cheap to license. I remember stuff like BEI drawing Destiny out over 12 volumes to claw back as much as they could. But splitting 25 episode spinoff series rather than just doing them complete remains a bitter pill. They've done it for the seasons of 00 and IBO.

Yeah, I was annoyed with that wrt Destiny. I got the US volume 1 with the first art box with the intention of getting the Beez release for the rest. Beez ended up releasing it in 10 volumes unlike the US, plus the US art boxes were massive mag lock digipack monstrosities that fell apart under the slightest pressure.

Doing a last minute sweep of the sale and £20 for each half of the Gundam Build series seems much fairer than the RRP.

I know Gundam is a very pricey license but cutting 25 ep series in half and setting £70 RRP each...View attachment 42911
I thought you were the one clued-up on Gundam.

Meanwhile there are people like me who do a double-take. If you’re not invested, it’s pretty off-putting.
What’s with these Gundam Seed “collectors” sets, that have for some reason been split into two halves?
One coming with the box, and the other just happens to be the missing Amaray to slot in with it… And to top it off; you can just bogof each pair for £20 instead (save £30)
We’ve kinda had some “split sets” before, but not that bad.

Then there’s Build Fighters: exactly the same in that someone forgot to put the second case in with the first each time.
But wait, it gets worse: the ‘standard’ edition is complete in a single Amaray, so half the space and one fifth of the (discounted) cost. I just can’t work out what the point was any more.
Standard editions are for the sane(r) people.

I order multiple items together, because I refuse to pay AL £3.50 postage per item. Especially when the price of the item is 1p below the free postage threshold.

I have 2 emails like that from Royal Mail. So I currently have no clue what's in the second parcel. 🤔

I feel very strongly this email - sent after my PayPal order was cockblocked by AL, no less - was a taunt that should read 'Did WE(e) forget something?'... like every xmas order that isn't a pre-order.

Funnily enough, I had that same Royal Mail email ??? conundrum: my Cyberpunk delivery was actually Saturday, not Friday. I'd not realised had two RM emails, one for something had forgotten about. 😅

It had not initially dawned on me that, in addition to AL charging postage on preorders (gotta love those £59.99 early 🐦 s), they are also modeling themselves after Amazon: ie, if you order stuff together, we only send when all in-stock. Makes sense though or everyone would circumvent it. 'Tis a fairly soulless, cost cutting delay maneuver all the same.

Back on the topic of CyberWHERE: Despite being 'sent' on Monday, took until Sat. I initially thought that 100% on RM being overloaded. AL had sent it RM48. I thought they sent preorders RM24, especially this time of year. Still should've arrived by Thurs, though.
Bodes ill for everyone's xmas orders: my day1 order not sent, and if all orders sent 2nd class... welp, next year it is. Not much hope for mass of orders end of sale. Diebuster doubt will be sent asap as ordered with other stuff.

I fear @Hanners has fled to wherever Andrew went, having shared the (most likely) bad xmas news. 'Tis a viable strategy: to flee to the proverbial hills until next year. I'd do the same tbh. God help us all...

I emailed AL asking if they could hold my three Xmas sale orders until early January as I might be going to my mum's for Xmas and NYE, and tbf to them they did get back to me and said that's ok, I agree they haven't been the best on communication and customer service of late, but wanted to show my appreciation for their efforts in this case :)

Jesus I’m still waiting on my order from day 2 of the sale to be dispatched…
If it helps, I’ll let you know when any of my day one get sent. 😶

I did read their entry / explanation on shipping delays, and apparently there’s some complex equation involving theory of quantum gravity that dictates when, as opposed to simple order time, type, or stock.

Also in the Past, Day 1 (day one order could be 50-70% (% is a guess) of the sale orders) orders have typically taken days to process (if not closer to a full week), so with them starting so late to start shipping for sale orders I'm not sure many day 2-13 orders will ship in time for christmas, but hopefully i'm wrong.
So please set expectation low for pre-christmas arrivals (And that just for the dispatch, not the actual delivery)

But its also possible the algrithim/equation Googlyhead just mentioned comes into to play to an extent. (although I assume its more order is big, I'll do it later / it goes into the FedEx Pile)

Just a heads-up for people still waiting on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Collector's Edition shipments - the rest of our stock (finally) arrived today, so hoping we'll see the rest of those orders shipped out this week now, sorry for the wait for anyone whose order wasn't caught in the first batch of stock that arrived!

(We've also had Diebuster Collector's Edition stock arrive, but as we want to do some final checks to make sure everything is okay we're making the decision to hold shipping that until January and concentrate on the Christmas sale orders beyond the aforementioned Cyberpunk shipments)

Seeing everyone get their Eizouken collectors edition but me is worrying, did send an email asking about it since I accidentally ordered it as a guest but yet to hear back

I can see there's still stock allocated to orders that haven't shipped yet, but looks like we are just a few units short, so will get more stock over to our fulfilment house to make up the shortfall there.

I don't see any unanswered e-mails about Eizouken in our customer service bucket (yes, we print out all the emails and put them in a bucket, it's more efficient that way 😂) but ping me a DM here if you like and I'll check it for you,

You'd need a bigger 🪣 if I started emailing you~

Where is everyone at with their orders? I know Cid had Devilman AWOL, with Cyber yet to ship. And Titan had a combined order for PB/Cyber in stasis. But I'm curious if any movement has been had for Christmas orders. As of yet, my day1/2 orders are as unmoved as myself. At this point I've made peace with the fact my orders will arrive in February. Hakuna mutata. Just wondering how everyone else is fairing?

I can almost visualise that email-person's eyes lighting up, possibly teary-eyed: the only person not complaining/wanting to cancel. 'Twas a nice gesture. Personally, I opted donate £5 per month dd to my local hospice after someone caught me at the door unawares, but that works too. Treat others as you would be treated yourself is my motto. :)

On an unrelated note, as it happens, I was about to post before Hanners beat me to it. 'Tis very cool that Diebuster is still (even now that a post here is telling me otherwise) a pre-order targeting the 15th at the time of typing. I am happy - so so happy, happy new year - that, thanks to AL's apparent policy of holding items to ship all together no matter what, and because I ordered Diebuster with everything else thinking it'd be fine if the 15th, that the whole order will more like than not get pushed back with it... unless I were to cancel Diebuster and lose the early bird redux price. Cool beans.

Math is perhaps my weakest subject - shockingly, I much prefer words - but I have managed to somewhat deduce the complexity of the matrix that goes beyond shipping orders, in order. And inspired by @Googlyhead, I'll use bullet points to breakdown my anecdotal findings that I feel are quite accurate. Maybe.

  • Since literally everything HAD to be sold over the course of one month (out of twelve, plus Jan 2026 so... thirteen?), all dozen or so pre-orders that just happened to coincide with the one month the busiest sale of the year is held HAD to be sent first. This is in spite of, and ironically perhaps because of, avoiding listing new pre-orders during the sale to simplify the timing of using the 10-15% code. It was not possible to arrange for Nov/Jan, or delay at least some of the later pre-orders 'till next year ahead of time, with a view to clearing the heavy load of sale orders in a timely manner
  • If you happen to be American and/or a a big spender that just so happens to be an American that posts images of their orders with huge shelves containing every known anime release in the background, then you get your Christmas order sent straight away; next day, so fast in fact they cannot be cancelled. Brexit voters will be angered by this (ref: Girl Guns / Normanic)
  • The added postage cost punishes UK buyers that do not order individually as, even ignoring stock issues which are understandable, any item in the order - even pre-orders - seemingly need to be in stock at the same time. AL might as well start an 'Anime (un)Limited Shipping' service to match Amazon Prime. I might even sub for the 15%, then--winwin (ref: Titan)
  • Pre-orders are also to be sent with RM48, during the busiest period of the year. Not sure if the same will apply to Christmas orders as none of mine have shipped (ref: self)
  • Only God/Allah knows
I'll leave Dai's quote for people stressed by all this, unlike me. 'Tis a kindness.
