General anime thoughts/discussion thread.

Tempting me to look in my own CEX but so small is the anime following in the valleys that mine is unlikely to have some of those obscure gems that are more likely to be hentai.
If a certain series named for a darkly shaded religious book was there someones egalitarian mum might think its jesus christ our saviour, not, well, jesus christ cover the children's eyes - in fact don't have them in the building

If there's one thing I would love to see, it's an actual hentai UK copy from the Restricted 18+ age rating range. I just want to see how the DVD sets were presented since you can't find a single cover art of the UK versions at all online, you can find the US sets of course, but nothing on the UK ones. Titles like (NSFW hentai here): Akiba Girls, Boin, Leatherman, and Ringetsu.

Curiously the CeX in Tottenhan Court Road in Central London (situated next to a Scientology building and a KFC) used to have straight up pornographic content (some did have BBFC logos so assumed legal) situated on a shelf in the basement above the rest of the DVDs.

The basement used to have a metallic, slightly dingy feel to it too but has recently been renovated and said iffy DVDs are now nowhere to be found. I’ve yet to see any hentai DVDs though.

I cant help but think the scientology building took advantage of being close to a CEX, something like "who is xenu?" Suddenly appearing on the shelves. At least you get movie and dinner with that setup though, dates made easy by the Cap'n!

As for @NormanicGrav 's thing, remember when some of those were out the BBFC wanted to cut a tonne of questionable content, some down to nothing. Not much chance anyone wanted to put something cut that much on the shelves, so UK boxart wasnt really worth doing. Perhaps someone on the forums feelin' a little cheeky may give us the idea of what that boxart might have looked like...

I just looked up images of (former) Studio Gainax buildings and they're...not what I imagined! Also, the page linked to images of other Japanese animation studios (SHAFT; Toei etc) and they all seem like pretty unassuming buildings from the outside. I'm not sure if that's just the Japanese way, (and perhaps some of them are just administrative HQ's rather than them actually having the facilities for animation), but I'd never have thought of these buldings as actual animation studios. Perhaps objectively I was expecting some state of the art, clinical, swanky looking buildings but...

I dig the unnassuming, no-frills look! 😃 😅

This season I really enjoyed Bocchi, Senryu girl and Josei Kausei.
They were funny and a second season would be nice for them.

Next season should be interesting with the return of Takagi san and potentially others.

And people loving their ADV sets are really annoying me this week it’s a really rare set here and I’d rather the show be available than that quite frankly imo awful dub
I'm thoroughly enjoying the ADV DVDs I'm watching Eva on right now, but I also dislike the dub. Hence not watching it dubbed.

Not sure I follow why people watching it on DVD should be any kind of problem. 🤨

Perhaps it's because (according to some folk), DVD is a "dead format" (at least where anime is concerned) 🤔

The DVDs wasn’t the problem it was people acting like it’s optimal way to watch it one, the remaster is very good so I wouldn’t go back and two it is cheaper to import the JP set (SE) than a pre owned platinum set. Which is wrong, I would have loved to own it but now the JP SE exists I won’t pay that price. (Example someone selling the platinum set for £200 on eBay)

Ive always wondered, were VHS anime or foreign stuff in general dub only? 😱

I assume subbed anime was virtually impossible to come by before the internet came along, and DVD's with their multiple audio options of course.
