If that was true then anything remotely pornographic or skin revealing (including side boob) featuring animated characters will immediately get a minimum 18 rating if not outright banned because cartoon porn is far more corrupting than any real stuff.
 
And not only do the BBFC get to have the ultimate say in these matters, they extract a fee of £7 per minute of submitted footage while they're at it.

Until only a few years back, I had to be content with £7 per hour with my job!

The BBFC are utterly worthless in an age wherein anyone can access porn/violent content/snuff through at the click of a mouse or touchscreen. As a horror fan specifically I'm disgusted that several films have been botched over here. Films like Human Centipede Part II had to be cut to ribbons to pass with an 18. What's the point? It's fake, effects. **** the BBFC, and **** their logos too.

In this day and age if you're worried that something may be inappropriate for the kids, just google it and do some research, there's a bunch of websites created specifically for this purpose (commonsensemedia.org for instance)
That's all I'll say on the matter, they had a purpose once, but they're a pain to deal with nowadays.

Yeah I just looked this up, again what's the point in cutting this? Paranoia Agent deserves a Blu Ray, and I hope it doesn't get cut again.

Yep, they demanded cuts to an 18-certificate title out of apparent concern for what might happen if a child saw it.

If the BBFC are conceding that kids might be watching a title irrespective of their 18 rating, then surely they've defeated the argument for their own existence.

The problem now is that any further release will contain the same cuts, regardless of format. Unless someone pays to put the whole thing through BBFC scrutiny all over again. At the rate of £7 per minute of footage, of course.

Could end up with a Code Geass situation where Kaze just released it uncut without the knowledge of the BBFC.

Doubt that would ever happen again though.

Makes me wonder if anything would actually happen if people didn't bother BBFC'ing their titles and just slapped a seemingly appropriate rating logo on the box art...
 
You know, as someone once pointed out, if film has the power to corrupt minds, then BBFC members' must be the most corrupt of all, given all the terrible, shocking footage they have to sit and watch in order to be able to make their mandatory cuts to protect The Ignorant Masses from similar harm.
