Well exactly - you get to experience the best bits (ie. the first few arcs) fresh. Also, the only time when Sakura actually gets given a decent fight/role to play.

Jesus, watching this is like wading through cold treacle. I don't think I've ever seen an anime that's so mind-numbingly boring as this - it's easy to hate on some of the old Manga collection titles, but this really is on a whole other level of awfulness. As always, the only thing that really saves it is the laughably bad dub, purely for the LOLs.

Having stumbled upon some of the art from it recently, I was considering going back to have a look at Gal Force, as it's one of those big names from that era that I've never gotten round to. If it's as bad as that though, I might not hurry... Certainly, I've heard before that the series was plagued by diminishing returns after the first film.
